Sound effects may be a bit annoying for some people, but I am okay with it.  You did both themes well. Difficulty is increasing a bit too fast, and this is slighty lowering the fun out of this game. About humor... I don't want to know why you got an idea to do this 'surprise'. And about mood, I like this retro feeling of this game. Would be even better if you used Gameboy classic color palette. If you continue to develop this, for the first session, I thought I was supposed to fill up the meter altogether and pop the balloons, and felt disappointed when I scored 0.
