Nuclear Labs by JoLu Studios

made by JoLu Studios for Ludum Dare 49 (JAM)

Our team's Ludum Dare 49 entry! Welcome to the Nuclear Labs. Here you'll have to cool down the rapidly overheating nuclear reactor by freezing enemies and kicking them into the water nearby. Stabilize the Nuclear Reactor for as long as possible as you get swarmed by more and more enemies. [We recommend playing the game on the Downloadable version (.exe file).] image2021-10-04145522.png image0.png

Amazing graphics, fun gameplay, and great concept. Pretty addicting and engaging! My best attempt was just shy of 4 minutes.

Cool game with fun mechanics, pretty fun to just run over and over to get a highscore

Pretty fun game, though might need some balancing (too many enemies for me, I'm not fast enough x) ).
Great mechanics, lots of juicy effects, good job !

Well-paced. It gets hard quick enough to encourage repeat plays. Nice work!

A fun, hard game. I like the bit of world building you did in the tutorial as well, added an extra shine to the game. It got hard pretty quickly, but it was easy to restart and go for a better score, so that wasn't much of an issue. Also noticed that the gun shoots a little off from where I was aiming, but maybe that's because I was playing the web version. Overall, a great game, awesome job!

I made it to just under two minutes (yeah, I have almost zero reaction speed and negative accuracy). The difficulty really ramped up quickly. Good game, though. The movement felt good and the sound effects were super satisfying. Perhaps the music could have been more intense? Or maybe that would have been too over-the-top. Overall, a fun game!

A simple and interesting game. I can see that there are many different weapons that I can try. But the level was a bit too difficult at the beginning, I hope it can be a gradual process. In addition, it is recommended to change the color of the rotating red light of the nuclear power plant, which makes me confused and I always feel that it can deal damage to me. Nice work~

The tutorial art was great! At around the 70 second mark, it just becomes too overwhelming. The sense of frustration from the difficulty ramp in combination with the slippery momentum-based movement did not encourage me to continue playing more than a handful of runs. A couple small things that would have drastically improved replayability and fun: 1) remove the movement momentum, and 2) have your weapons gradually get stronger the longer you survive. Regardless, this was still a solid entry for a game jam, congrats!

That dials up to 11 fast in a fun way though, played a bunch of times. Also love the tutorial art.

Not bad, but too hard for me! Also, probably you already know, but for some reason in the web version the window is cut off at the bottom. Love the graphics in the tutorial!

cool game I found by the 1 minute mark it was getting really hard and it didn't seem possible to survive much longer so I didn't try to replay. I think maybe as there's only 2 primary weapons i would have found it better to have a weapon on left / right button and space kick or something similar to make it easier to use both weapons

Really fun game. The tutorial has too many words, some gifs to show it instead would be better. But I think it's totally acceptable, as you probably ran out of time. This is a game jam after all.

Very fun! The kicking was really satisfying but I wish the game was a little more forgiving overall :P e
Could be fun to have some more beginner levels where you only have to defend from one direction instead of all around.

This was a neat game, the difficulty curve got the better of me. I too would have liked the momentum reduced / removed. I get that you were going for an icy floor since you are shooting ice but I think it would have made it more playable for me. Top down play was a good choose for this type of game and the mouse aiming worked really well. Thanks for the entry and the fun!

It's funny we have the same kind of backstory but quite a different game at the end.
Like that there is a tutorial. The music was fitting with the stressing atmosphere.
