It's Cold, I Am Dead by Papabirb

inspired by this video of a cat who really wants to eat a dead fish but it's trapped under the ice
It's Cold, I Am Dead
You're a fish that's died, but you're not ready to get eaten by hungry cats yet! Plug up the melting ice with anything you can find to stop a hungry cat from eating you!

A simple one-button physics game about using your momentum, rotation, etc. to whack junk into melting ice to plug it up! The ice is melting, though, so it's only a matter of time before there's no ice left to plug up if you don't maintain it enough! Once the ice melts, there's nothing to stop the hungry cat from catching you, and then it's game over!
Features:
- One button (click on desktop or tap on mobile)
- Fun physics go ping pong
- Sfx go ding
- Beginner baby's unknowledgeable attempt at sprite stacking
- Cool music (a bit crunchy on mobile the first pass through, because Godot web builds :/ )
- Probably colorblind friendly? I didn't check yet, but I used the same palettes I always do, except for the gradient background
Information:
Fish: This is you. Click/tap where you want to go, and the fish will spin towards that spot!
Kelp: Pretty bad at patching the hole, doesn't do much for your score either, but it's the easiest thing to whack!
Boot: Also pretty bad for score, but patches the ice pretty decently!
Grail: The Holy Grail! Or, well, one of many floating around in your pond. It's the best for your score, but patches worse than kelp.
Gold: Pretty good for score, but only patches as well as kelp.
Anchor: These heavy sunsa guns are the best for patching up the ice! Not shabby for your score, either, although not as nice as the Grail.
Tools:
- Engine: Godot 3.4.4
- Music: Beepbox.co
- Sfx: Audacity & hitting a random cup on my desk with a pen
- Art: Paint.net
Soundtrack:
| Menu | Level | Game over | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | It's just drums | Exported with 2 loops | I had to figure out the tempo again oops might be off a lil but the bytes matched exactly when I exported again so I think i managed to find it |

Still, I had fun jungling with the different assets ! (I really love your game title by the way)
Concept is cute. I'm not entirely sure what score is trying to accomplish though.
Had fun flopping about regardless.
Fish/10. Nice work!
Fish flinging can be pretty challenging! It's mostly about knowing when to try to spin left (click left of fish), spin right (click right of fish), or just do nothing to let your little fish body push things up!
Thanks for playing!!
Good job!
Fun silly little game. The shape of the fish around the axis of rotation made for some interesting effects where which direction you were swinging actually mattered. Great clinky sfx. Fun to pull out and play around with for a few minutes.
@marcmagus Always a delight to drop by your LD streams, thanks so much for playing! I had a lot of fun accidentally stumbling into the fish rotation mechanic during development, glad you enjoyed the result!

Good luck on your ratings, see you next LD! :D

Keep it up!
Thanks for playing!!!
Control(s) is a little random, but I managed to go to ~7k points, don't know if it's good or bad
There's a method to my madness with the controls, but they were a random decision when i was playing around with the physics coding, lol! Didn't realize the "move towards mouse" code I used would make the fish spin like nuts, found a way to break the code into two parts and control spin separately, and form there just had fun making it spin a different way based on which side of the fish you click on lol.
Thanks for playing!! :)
One area where you can improve it is the cat's attack. I wish there was some sort of a sound warning or a more vfx or even both. It was not always easy to read before it was too late. But over all a very solid job!
Thanks for bringing it to my stream! Here's a recording in case you'd like to refer to it https://youtu.be/P3HI-2edlag
This was such a unique idea, and I love the inspiration behind it. :smile_cat: Keep up the great work!!
