Fronk Frizby - Qoffee Cuest by LiquidFunk
:coffee: :coffee: :coffee:
You asked, we delivered -- The ever so popular Fronk Frizby is finally starring in his own game. Wow!
Drink, swig and glug your way through a whimsical turn-based RPG. Battle unsettling enemies, encounter familiar faces and confront the most sinister foe of all: your addiction to caffeine.
This was originally intended as a regular jam entry, but it proved difficult to finish during that time frame, which is why we opted for the "Extra" category. In total, we spent around 4 days making this... whatever this is.

Fronk fell asleep?!
TL/DR I like the combat feeling like a parody and think you should lean into it even more!
I was actually struggling a bit when writing him because I don't know the first thing about coffee and don't have many coffe-related terms in my vocabulary. Luckily, @liquidfunk who actually drinks coffee came in and saved me by writing all of the funny coffee dialogue in the last boss battle.
I first thought there would be some gameplay choices, but then it seemed the other actions than 'strike' changed nothing, making the game feel like a long interactive joke. Good thing it wasn't a bad joke :D
What
Gotta love the funny narrative, but it's not always clear who's talking
What a trip though, wow, felt like another world
Strengths:
- Great, imaginative encounters
- Fantastic soundtrack
- I love the fact that each enemy has its own environment. You might have lacked time to make transitions, but I felt like this created a great eerie, almost psychotic vibe to the succession of fight.
Possible improvements:
- After several jams using pixel fonts, I have switched to high-res UI on top of pixel art and am happy with the result. I think doing the same with your game might improve the readability.
Sorry we had to speed through the end, but I'm glad we were able to finish it! Y'all are very clever with your writing, it's not often an LD game makes me laugh out loud with dialogue alone.
Good job creating such a unique experience in 4 days
