Hold The Line - Ludum Dare 50 by Griggy
Hold The Line is a real time strategy game where you dedicate limited Supplies to deploy troops used to defend your Commander from an endless horde of enemies. Once your Commander is defeated, it’s game over. Over time the waves of enemies will increase in size, frequency, and abundance. You’ll need to think fast to dedicate the appropriate type and amount of troops to counter your enemies’ plans while also having a quick enough hand to execute your strategy in time. Everyone will eventually be overtaken by the unending onslaught of foes, but how long can you hold your ground?
How To Play
Hold The Line is played exclusively with the Mouse. All unit commands and selections are performed via the Mouse Buttons and Mouse Wheel (or the Q and E keys if you're on a track pad). You will always have full vision of the entire battlefield and can deploy your troops anywhere you'd like. Troops are dispatched by spending Supplies in proportion to the size of the unit being deployed.
Controls
Left Mouse Button (click and drag): Scale/Orient New Unit
Left Mouse Button (release): Deploy New Unit

I did find it difficult to tell what the incoming units were, especially when it wasn't fullscreen.
Also, I think the placement/rotation of the units could use some work; it was difficult to tell where the units would be placed when starting a click-drag event...
If I were to make a suggestion to improve it, it would be that there are some returns for killing enemy troops, and those returns are changed based on distance from commander, would help with scaling as the game goes on I think.
But pretty polished submission, a good concept, and I think what's there is good!
Nice graphics.
This is really very cool!
You are very cool.
The artwork was great, its a shape the camera angle makes it hard to appreciate the character models properly.
I think it may have been better if the squads remain centred where you first click, I kept moving them too far to the side when making larger groups.
Cheers

1. I felt like I couldn't decide in which way to send my units and "got lucky" when I sent them in the right direction.
2. Maybe a missed it but I couldn't find a way to decide how big the unit I deploy is.
3. This is just a suggestion: I wish I could control my unit path after launch to further my strategic ability in the game.
I had quite a hard time placing units - especially getting them to the right rotation. Either I did not understand the placement system correctly or it was something weird on the web version.
Awesome awesome awesome
I honestly think you can take this concept a lot further. This is a good game to reference for campaign ideas if you decide to do a full version: https://armorgames.com/winter-falling-price-of-life-game/18961
