Banner long.png ARE YOU READY TO RUCKUS!!!

WLD (Wrestling at Ludum Dare) presents: ROYAL RUCKUS!!!

Royal ruckus is a push your luck bidding game in which you take on the role of a legally distinct wrestler. You and 2-5 other players will each bid by expending endurance. Whoever bids the least endurance will have to draw tokens from a bag and hope they dont draw a knockout token. But be careful, if you spend your endurance too quickly, you may run out and be knocked out anyways.

Due to time constraints this weekend I decided to make a board game this time around despite knowing that can make it difficult for other people to play it. To help alleviate this I've set up a Tabletop Simulator version. Find it here.

Even with that, it is a 3 player minimum so I've also set up a discord server for finding groups. I'll be there to play it with folks as well so come play live with the developer.

I LOVE seeing physical games in the jam. I haven't played it yet but I downloaded the cards and I'll print them and play sometimes this week. The art work and writing is great. Congrats!

@hiddentavern Thanks so much. I'll be looking forward to hearing back.

If you want to play it online, it can be played via discord streaming. I'm hanging out on there to play with anyone who's interested.

@hiddentavern Just FYI, I've added some pages of tokens to the printable document if that helps.

You don't usually find board games in game jams, so this is really cool to see. I found the design space of this game to be interesting and fairly well done given the time constraints. I would have liked to see a minimum requirement of two players instead of three to make it more accessible as a jam game. Well done!

@matterlinx Thanks!

The concept for the game developed from the idea of a push your luck game (as delaying inevitability) and out from there. By the time I got to something play testable and I realized it wouldn't work with two it was pretty close to submission. I'm still tinkering around with a possible 2 player ruleset but they don't work without compromising some pretty major parts of the game.

If your interested in giving it a try, we are currently looking for one more person over on the discord linked in the downloads.

This was a lot of fun, needs some balancing. Everyone got taken to Suplex City. No Mercy was to be found, and he didnt even have to use his finisher.
