Seconding the person in the itch comments who compared it to the Dan-Ball Powder Game, haha.
Interesting idea. I didn't know that water physics is possible on pico8 :D. There were time that I thought I wouldn't make it in time but I did :D.
Thanks for the game
Amazed by the physics !
In my run, I managed to drown 2 people as I hadn't known the water doesn't equalize from right to left. Outside of that no other criticism.
Very well done! :)
The fluid dynamics you were able to achieve on the Pico8 platform is just insane!
Nicely done!!

I liked the music although it was a little loud. Maybe there is a way to adjust it in PICO 8 that I'm not aware of.
I did experience a bug towards the end of my game. I was trying to divert all the water down the empty left side of the board but half the water just refused to go that way  The poor guys on the right were getting flooded and there was nothing I could do about it.

Though, it does feel a bit sad since I keep losing 1 person in my runs on Normal.
It also sticks well with the theme, and at the same time, defies it too, ensuring that delaying the inevitable, when done right, can mean defying it. One little minor critique would be the lag, but that aside, it's a great game!
Great concept, great execution, really addictive. The water physics is just good enough to be intuitive. Also what is this wizardry? How did you manage to implement this in pico-8? That's next level.

Nice short game, really fits the theme :)
VERY cool graphics. And simple and cool idea. Absolutely liked it
I love that game, excellent work!
I experienced slight performance issues a bit into the game, but it didn't stop me from completing the round.
Well done!
This game really surprised me - I really loved my time with it, the music loop will be with me for a few days
Great Job on submitting
This may be the winning game of the jam imo
Almost, was my 3rd try in really hard, so that's fun playing a game. I really liked, the idea is pretty cool and unique. It was executed perfectly balancing drill power and rescues.
The only thing that bodered me was the lag, towars the end i think pico8 couldn't keep up with the fluid simulation.
Very unique idea, and pretty well made. I had much fun playing it.

Thank you for this game! I really enjoyed beating it, it was very satisfying to make every room possible for the water not the sink the people. I could play this for hours :D
Really fits the theme is a good way
My only feedback is as the game progresses it seems to get laggy, and it seems like its harder to "dig" the rock. it would be nice if it removed more than one pixel at a time.
Really Fun! Great Job!
Great music, great game mechanics, good strategical vibes.
Loved that there are different difficulties.
I've posted a review too: https://youtu.be/qxkNPOozqCE
Making this work so smoothly on pico8 is clever enough, but also making it fun and gripping as a game is even more impressive.
The difficulty level seems very finely tuned. I played a couple of games on `Normal` and `Hard` before going on to `Very Hard` and was able to beat it first try, but only by the skin of my teeth, and with a couple of close calls.
This is the kind of game I can see myself coming back to from time to time, which is a level of quality that's hard to achieve in just 48 hours.
A super solid experience, I feel like you could take this to mobile without too much effort. I would pay you money for a game like this. There are so many cool venues you could go too, like undiggable terrain, monsters, weather, etc.
Great work!

The water physics were well made, and the music was bouncy and fun! Difficulty was well tuned as well (I beat it on normal on my first try.) The only thing is that the game has a tendency to lag, but that's more an issue with pico-8 than your code, great job!

(chuckles) I'm in danger!
