Really fun little fluid dynamics game! I managed to beat it on normal. The difficulty feels well-tuned, you're constantly under pressure but you can deal with it with enough skill.

Seconding the person in the itch comments who compared it to the Dan-Ball Powder Game, haha.

I really enjoyed this. The music was hypnotizing! It was really tricky trying to guide the water around while saving everyone but I really enjoyed the challenge, especially on the harder difficulty. Great work!

Great game, loved so much about it. The music was awesome, the little air bubbles when you broke something underwater were cool and from my playthrough it seemed well balanced. On normal difficulty, I got to the lsat person just as water was starting to threaten them.

Nice job! I was considering using particles for my game too but I've went other direction. I hope you'll add some water level equalization someday to fully match the communicating vessels phenomena!

So awesome! Reminded me of some of those old DOS physics games I loved so much. Sim gets a little choppy later in the round, but even with that, the level of optimization you achieved on your fluid physics in 48 hours is quite impressive. Also didn't negatively affect the gameplay, which was a total blast. I got a perfect 18 on Really Hard. I'll keep this one on the hard drive for a rainy day.

Interesting idea. I didn't know that water physics is possible on pico8 :D. There were time that I thought I wouldn't make it in time but I did :D.

Thanks for the game

Loved it! The cave system looks great and particles work perfect. Adding those little people to save was a great touch to the underlying particle simulator! Well done!

I think the use of the theme was well done, rather than failure being inevitable you can still succeed/win with the inevitability being the caverns flooding.

In my run, I managed to drown 2 people as I hadn't known the water doesn't equalize from right to left. Outside of that no other criticism.

Very well done! :)

Great game! The playful music was a little weird with the context of saving people from drowning. Mechanic felt great and responsive, and the water and bubbles both looked really nice.

The fluid dynamics you were able to achieve on the Pico8 platform is just insane!

This game was very easy. Likely because I selected that for the difficulty. This was really cool! The graphics are good, but as a side effect of that, it started to lag a great deal as the water filled up. Good music, too. Overall, great concept!

Nicely done! Simple concept and nice execution!

I liked the music although it was a little loud. Maybe there is a way to adjust it in PICO 8 that I'm not aware of.

I did experience a bug towards the end of my game. I was trying to divert all the water down the empty left side of the board but half the water just refused to go that way  The poor guys on the right were getting flooded and there was nothing I could do about it.

One of the best entries here! The gameplay is simple yet it's so engaging!

Though, it does feel a bit sad since I keep losing 1 person in my runs on Normal.

It also sticks well with the theme, and at the same time, defies it too, ensuring that delaying the inevitable, when done right, can mean defying it. One little minor critique would be the lag, but that aside, it's a great game!

Great concept, great execution, really addictive. The water physics is just good enough to be intuitive. Also what is this wizardry? How did you manage to implement this in pico-8? That's next level.

This was really really fun to play! I love it! The water physics is really impressive, especially for a PICO-8 game. I did have a bug where sometimes the left half of where the water was falling wasn't flooding to the right, but other than that (and the occasional slowdowns), this is a great entry!

Beat it on normal, very hard was too hard. I love the concept and how you made it work in such a short time, especially the diversity in rock types combined with the limited digging power works well. It would be good to give the player a fast-forward option, and the water mechanic is not always working as expected (I had a mountain of water piling up at the start that would not move left).

One of me people was drown because of a little droplet...shame on him. This game gives me a sence of achievement, as i could win the game indeed. Almost, was my 3rd try in really hard, so that's fun playing a game. I really liked, the idea is pretty cool and unique. It was executed perfectly balancing drill power and rescues.

The only thing that bodered me was the lag, towars the end i think pico8 couldn't keep up with the fluid simulation.

Very unique idea, and pretty well made. I had much fun playing it.

WOW 5/5 this is so cool and insanely impressive for a compo game! The fluid sim ran really well even in the WebGL browser and performance never impacted flow of gameplay. Music was really fitting and graphics too. Impressive this was all done on the Pico 8 engine as well. The balance felt good and I was able to beat the super hard difficulty after a couple tried. One of my favorite entries of the jam for sure, and definitely my favorite comp entry! Job well done for sure!

Great Game!!

Really fits the theme is a good way

My only feedback is as the game progresses it seems to get laggy, and it seems like its harder to "dig" the rock. it would be nice if it removed more than one pixel at a time.

Notably, I encountered an issue where the flow in from the top blocks water from flowing between left and right, acting as a wall, which can cause the flooding to spill into one side, even though there was plenty of space on the other. Other than that, really good.

This is very neat.

Making this work so smoothly on pico8 is clever enough, but also making it fun and gripping as a game is even more impressive.

The difficulty level seems very finely tuned. I played a couple of games on `Normal` and `Hard` before going on to `Very Hard` and was able to beat it first try, but only by the skin of my teeth, and with a couple of close calls.

This is the kind of game I can see myself coming back to from time to time, which is a level of quality that's hard to achieve in just 48 hours.

Really cool, I'm impressed of your fluid simulation and the gameplay is solid.

Great work!

:) Wow, this was so much fun to play! After a while, it made me feel like I was popping bubble wrap. Very soothing. The dirt-popping sound-effect really helped with that vibe. And it wasn't too hard! I saved everyone on the hardest difficulty on my first try. I love the randomly generated dirt (I assume random?), and the fluid simulation was really nice. Great pixels! Nice music!

Very neat and inventive little game! Altogether felt like a very complete package, and I enjoyed the balance between chill gameplay and strategy to keep my people from drowning.

Amazing game! Really satisfying. I was able to win on the hardest difficulty setting with plenty of time to spare :)

Very nice game, especially taking into account that it was made on the pico-8!
The water physics were well made, and the music was bouncy and fun! Difficulty was well tuned as well (I beat it on normal on my first try.) The only thing is that the game has a tendency to lag, but that's more an issue with pico-8 than your code, great job!

Nice pixel game that has a good 8 bit audio. I enjoyed that you can play it on a mobile device. Good puzzle elements.

Awesome job with this game! It's so satisfying just watching the water flow and fill up the spaces. Music was awesome! I thought the digging was actually playing on the beat, but I was just clicking in time lol. I felt like there was a missing audio cue when the rescue was ready, but other than that great job!

Nice to see a pico8 entry with a mouse support! Interesting use for fluid mechanics. I had fun. Art is good and music works. Well done :)

Beautiful game! The music is simple but catchy, and the gameplay is really fun. I somehow managed to perfect the game on the highest difficulty, and man was it intense.
