The Lone Survivor by m110
The Lone Survivor
In XXIII century human kind explore a lot of the distant planets to set new bases and gather resources. The aim was similar on Kepler-22b however the ecosystem hasn’t been fully checked before our Team arrived. After a month since my expedition landed weird radioactive rays started spreading more and more frequently. Eventually we lost many people and only thing I can trust is the bot - BumBun. We need to get out the planet as soon as possible, as the radioactive waves happen once every 10 seconds. It is almost impossible to strive in this conditions. The scanner shows an active life somewhere, let’s find it and run away. Hope the monsters on the way won’t slow is down…

The goal and controls is still unknown for me. I tried to hide from waves in some ship deatils, but I can't say by visuals which decorations is safe to be.
Really good atmosphere, but gameplay is require playtesting and balance.
I found the controls a little sticky at times, getting wedged in places or jump not responding when i'd expect it too. I also found which areas were 'safe' during the radiation beams inconsistent, so it wasn't always clear where I would actually be safe and where just looked safe in theory.
A good game overall and I enjoyed it, particularly the aesthetic. Some things to work through but a great jam submission. Good job
I think, the players stick too much to the wall. If he would slide, it would be more realistic. I understood after a few tries that the direction of the rays was indicated in the timer.
The movement is bit weird, getting stuck everywhere to a point it get's slightly annoying. I noticed there was a shooting mechanism implemented but it didn't get a lot of chances to shine during my playthrough. Finally, the rad wave indicator is a nice touch.
Good job, team.
The room for growth "critique" would be the gameplay. Things felt a bit confusing and the stickiness to walls / not jumping when you should be able to was something that made me stop playing before I won.
That being said, it's hard to balance things well and have nothing buggy in a game jam so this isn't me saying it's a bad game. Far from it. I'd love to see the game again with the issues fixed. =)
Thank you.
This sounds really negative but i hope it is appreciated.
On the other hand i like the idea of the storms every ten seconds. If the colliders wouldnt be so fiddly this could even make for a really fun and fast paced runner.
The death animation is really nice and creepy as is the overall mood which is also carried by the cool music.
Id say this was a very ambitous project that - while still very rough around the edges - shows a lot of promise.
