This is a pretty fun, simple game. The graphics and sound are also really nice. It would be better to have the controls laid out so that the keys are next to each other, instead of spreadout over the keyboard though.
cool, didn't get the "every 10 seconds" theme in this one but the game is funny, crazy and loooove that music. will have that in my head next hour or so.
@eerongal Thanks, and I think that is part of the challenge. Like being tongue tied but with your fingers.
@magus77 The timer is 10 seconds, so a burger every 10 seconds. It's a stretch, but it a satisfying premise that I went with it. And the music is an earworm for sure... been listening to it all weekend and now haunts my dreams. xD
I remember seeing a blog post about this game doing the game jam period and looking forward to playing it. You know that kind of gut feeling where you know somethings gonna be good? :) And it was right once again. Really great and fun I managed to earn 77$ before I was sacked. (also some of those customers were a bit... hmm... odd, like 3 patties and nothing else...)
@nullval It gets funnier when it becomes a tower of meat, cheeses, pickles and condiments. Glad you enjoyed it.
@slush Thanks. And yeah, was thinking about the middle buns option but past on it to avoid it to make sure less bugs would crop out. Also cut out numerous other ingredient items like bacon, veggie patties, grilled onions, etc. (Only so much over the weekend.)
Very simple gameplay, easy to figure out without much instructions. I must admit there are some weird burgers, who wants mayo mayo mayo onion onion ketchup cheese cheese cheese and patty? Very fun :)
This is a fantastic game! Burger Rush has given me the desire to cook the burger as quickly as possible in response to a request! It's also great because you have to use your keyboard and then try not to look at the keys in order to remember xD Thank you for a wonderful experience!
who is at my burger joint ordering 3 patties??? these maniacs!
I got to $168 and gotta call it there lol, love the game. The theme fits perfectly. The art and audio are great. Some sort of mechanic where you have to use your mouse to complete some other objective while simultaneously building the burgers with your keyboard might be interesting. Although it might not be lol. The game is great as is. Good job!
When I started I didn't think I would become as addicted to it as I did. Really fun. The music and sound was great. Making tall burgers felt pretty satisfying!
@caerul @chase-of-bass @retrowillgames @goody @martin183 @valentinis @matt-ravenhall @neexor @fokaz @omphh @riphitter @r3d3r Just wanna thank everyone for their comments and appreciation. It's so great hearing that my game has been such a blast to play.
This is a lot of fun! Definitely gives me Cook, Serve, Delicious vibes. I think it could have been more interesting if the orders also had to be in a certain order instead of the ingredients all together. The art is also great again. I'm always down to do game jams in the future too if you want to do a group one.
Really really really cool game! Good job on the tutorial explaining everything and poiting at the important stuff. The music is fun! I managed to make 47$. It is not as easy as you might think, but I got faster and faster. Also I LOVE the fact that everytime you start a new attempt the ingredients might change. That kept me going just to see what else you can put on those burgers. Don't really know what to criticize. Only thing that bothered me was Cheese on H instead of C (shrugs). Art was also really clean looking.
Is this the high score? Really engaging game! I was kind of disappointed I couldn't stack anything below or above the bread. I guess I'm just too high concept for the game!
Really solid idea and love the visuals! I felt the keybindings were maybe a bit confusing and number keys would have maybe worked better, but on the other hand that might be part of the challenge and maybe i'm just not really used to using my keyboard fully. Aside from that it's a really solid release. Good stuff!
This was just waaaay too much fun! I absolutely loved your game, I made a food prep game myself. But where mine was all about clicking, yours was all about typing! Everything about this is just perfect and I enjoyed every second of this. I thought I got a high score, but Nardandas definitely got a score way higher than I could ever achieve haha
Strong candidate to winning. It's fun to play, simple, but it got you playing again and again. The art is beautiful, perfectly fit the theme.
My first 5 stars overall for now. Congrats
79$ is my record
@nardandas Feels good when someone comes back for seconds.
@oakhardt I was really happy with how the tutorialization worked. Learn from another LD entry (Dwammings had no in-game tutorial, and it hurt folks experience), so made sure that it's important to point how the game works. And was debating on using 'C', but it would've been the only on that side of the keyboard. Keeping all the keys in that same region felt like a fun part of the challenge.
@jag Thanks. And yeah, played yours and a totally different feel (which is great). A lot of other food themed games have been entry this jam and all of them have a unique spin or feel to the general same premise.
@gonzalol Thanks for the compliments, and you're not the first to say that this is a strong contender.
Very fun idea and I like how quick everything feels. The UI looks great, the music matches the vibe the game is going for and it's a nice way to spend a little time! My only criticism is the controls as I found the keybinds a bit tough to balance which is only an issue because my hands get a bit sore sometimes. I'd love if there was a bar of ingredients and a finish order button to click!
That one thing aside, I still stuck around and had a great time and that's me just wanting more which I think is a great thing. I do also like how you unlock ingredients as you play! This feels like a lot of care went into the game and I'm glad I'd been keeping an eye on this one!
Thanks for the feedback @sarah-alexa. While testing, my hands at times got a little crampy so the idea of accessibility did pop in my head. The idea of editable keybindings or mouse control were possible solutions, but would've invited a handful of potential bugs (and other design options). Limiting it to only keyboard (and a fix keybinds) just allowed me to focus on honing the game experience, which felt like the best approach as a solo dev.
If looking for how the experience might be like as a mouse focus game, check out [Fast Food In10sifies](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/fast-food-in10sifies) by @grau. It's a solid game with a good vibe (and needs a few more reviews and love).
I love this game, super simple to understand, super easy to get addicted, but not too stressful either. The gameplay loop is great, the art is awesome and cute, I think you nailed it
Really fun! The pace at which new ingredients were added felt good. It would've been nice if there was a checkmark next to an ingredient in the order when you've put it on the burger so that it's easier to keep track of what I need to do next. Also, the white text for the menu and tutorial is quite hard to see against the background. The game looks great and the music goes well with it!
It's pretty fun! I've tried a couple burger makers in this jam now, and it's neat to see the differences people can do. Much like some of them, it gets a bit complicated, for me at least, when there's different letters for items that start with the same letter. One thing I do like, is the ingredients don't have to be in a specific order. Great job overall!
It's not a cooking game, it's a typing game ! Really interesting concept, with a great execution. I find interesting how ingredients appear one after the other, but not always in the same order. The only thing I think could be improved is the feedback when a new ingredient appears.
That was really fun to play, I tried it a few time and got to $92 ! I like how frantic it becomes after some time.
Omg I remember seeing your game development during the jam and was excited to see the final product.
And WOW, I had lots of fun playing it!
It's simple, fun, and a great build up progress of challenges.
Your explanation of instructions was very solid and clear
Music and visuals of the game were great
This is definitely one of my jam favorites :)
Hey, a fellow entry about burgers! I love how hectic things get, the keyboard combos really mess with your mind. I feel like you could get really, really good at this game and become a keyboard-burger-making-master if you really went for it- a good sign for the difficulty curve I think! Art and music are on point as well. It's a simple concept but I really like the implementation here, nice!
Perfectly scoped and very well polished. Simple but genius. I love the art style and the music really gets you going in a rhythm. Sound effects are great too. I like the little detail that the ingredients never land centered just like real fast food. Very clear and concise tutorial. Complexity of the burgers overtime is paced wonderfully. I had a ton of fun playing your very addicting game. My best score was $200. Amazing job!
Super fun game! I played it a few times, but my scores were nowhere near some of the other players' on here! If you're interested in seeing another game with a similar concept, then here's another LD51 game that I played a few days ago:
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/miam
It's interesting to see what design differences affect gameplay and experience. I think Burger Rush has a faster pace since order doesn't matter, but order counts in Miam. I think Miam also has scaling points since it counts streak combos.
Overall, I think this game has clean gameplay, good graphics and no bug issues that I noticed. Great job!
@fuzzybut I have came across Miam earlier this week, and it is great game as well. They do they're own thing with the premise and feels just as fresh as mine. Also, check https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/fast-food-in10sifies as well. Another perfect burger making entry.
Really really great submission! It has a tough learning curve, but thankfully I caught onto it and now have a high score of $354 (>:D)! I love the way the sandwiches look when you finish them, though as the orders get longer there's a lot of unused space in the burger that makes me wish I could squish it down (XD)! I can say you accomplished in making the game super tough but super fun to play, it took my attention for more than 20 minutes ()! Some of the keybinds were really confusing at first, so I might suggest getting rid of *pickles* and *mayo*, but all the other ones were intuitive! :)
Wonderful submission, I really liked it! Keep it up!
Really fun and addictive game! The different keys for the ingredients fried my brain, but once I got in the zone I could really get the burgers going! Really awesome work, well done!
I enjoyed playing your game. There is similar game (from other LD participant) called Coffee Rush which I enjoyed too but your game is more fun. Also, I like the retro style of your game. Overall: Very nice and polished entry! Well done!

The only problem is that I am craving a burger now haha
I just wish I wasn't so bad at it!
