Loved the style and animation. With the art-house-ish fade in the end;) (I really hoped the char would dance to some credits!).

Cute little game! After delivering the last mushrooms, it might be helpful to indicate that I need to go back to the large bug. I kept trying to jump over the ledge to the right of the map :P

Thanks everyone for playing :)

@ardorugus, agree, I wish I had a bit more time to have the character animated at the end :) But the whole last screen was made in the final 5 minutes before submission ^^

@sudocoffee Thx! The NPC does say to come back to see him after the sh'rooms are delivered, but there is definitely a lack of emphasis on that indeed !

The cartoon style makes me 10 years younger. Fun enough! Enjoy the jam.

Beetles! I enjoyed the art style and the game was very easy to understand and play which is great. The controls were quite good, but it's extremely hard to make great platforming controls. (Personally I always fail catastrophically)

I was sort of hoping things would get really weird there in the end and was a bit disappointed that the game didn't continue after ingesting the treat. And I wish I could jump on the mushrooms.

But all in all a solid entry.

Fun and cute little game. I really liked the art style and the platforming was fun. The ending was quite funny. Only negative I'd say is the motion blur was way too strong and was a bit distracting while running. But overall good entry.

@zhiteng-chen @local-minimum thanks for playing. I wish I had time to make the ending more exploratory indeed ^^

@roitchie, thanks ! There is no motion blur, at least not on purpose. If you're seeing it, it might be a bug, or some kind of unfortunate combination of screen size and resolution. What kind of resolution do you have?

Short and sweet! It could've used something extra, like maybe a timed element or something.

Cute game. Great character design. Really reminded me of the old era of mascot platformers. Giorgio Beetle would have fit right in with all the other cartoony platformer characters of the 90's. All the art in game was great. It was short, but I don't hold that against a compo game. Great work!

This looks and sounds great. It's a shame it's over so quickly as I was just starting to get into my stride. My only real complaint is that the jump seems a little delayed. I'd press it and then it'd take a moment before it responded. Other than that though it was a great romp through the mushroom kingdom.

Good stuff :8ball:

The graphics and animations are excellent, but as a game it's just way too short and simplistic. Very basic platforming with no way to lose and no real challenge. It just needs some sort of a hook, and a few extra missions, I think.

The visuals are really cool! It would need a parallax background to make it even better. One thing that was a bit tricky is jumping from the edge of a platform. Sometime it's like you have pressed the key but it is ignored. I encountered this issue too in platformers I made and found that adding some sort of tolerance delay improved a lot the experience. Something like 150ms off platform being tolerated for a jump.

Very nice submission. Love the visuals. The only criticism is the length, a few more missions would have been amazing.

A bit short and simple, but what's there is really well done. The platforming controls feel good and the camera movement is smooth. I like how there's a bit of dialogue and some proper tutorial prompts to explain the controls at the the start. The art style looks great with some nice animations from the player character. The sounds effects are music are nice as well.

@quinn-patrick @owlycode @likirus @veralos Thank you all for playing :)
I do agree with all you comments, the game is very short. It would have benefited from more gameplay, level, and some visual appeal like parallax background. Those were all initially planned, but I ran out of time.
Cheers !

Visuals and sound are nice, but there wasn't too much of interest to actually do. A few enemies or obstacles scattered around would have made all the difference.

I've never been a fan of spacebar as the jump key in these kinds of platformers. I think it should be mapped to W or the up arrow. Maybe Z if you're going with an arrow keys + ZXC control scheme.

When the instructions at the beginning indicated that WASD could be used to move around, I expected to be able to climb and up down walls like in Knytt, which turned out not to be possible. Which is fine, of course, but it made me miss jumping with W all the more.

You don't see much 2D skeletal animation in compo games, well done! Controlled nicely, though it could have used a bit of coyote time.

@caeonosphere That's why the game feels pretty much empty, spent way too much time on the animations instead of gameplay :D

Nice art! The platforming felt a bit slow and annoying, and it ended just when i got the hang of it! Well done for a compo game though.

Nice characters, I really enjoyed the skeletal animation on them. I wish you spent more time on the platforming controls. The jumps are a bit awkward when you get close to the edge of a platform. The story-line is nice and even though the game is really short, it's cool that you managed to throw in an ending
