This game is HUGE for a jam game! It's big, has a story, is fun to play, great sounds, great music, it's polished. I don't know what else to say honestly, amazing

Wow thats a large team for a jam game ! I can definitely see the work that was put into it.
A little more inertia and less speed on the spaceship would have been lovely !

I wish I could see the preproduction process, seems so cool. Everything is finished , maybe a small playthrough video could be fantastic.

The ship controls are GREAT. Quite a big achievement for a game jam. The characters and sounds remind me of Cruelty Squad. Great game!

The mood is very unique but what strikes me the most is all the level design you managed to accomplish. There's a great sense of exploration and the game makes you want to know what's next, pretty addictive.

This was a fun physics based game! I can’t tell if we actually die in the story at the end there with the explosion. In terms of the theme, I’d say it fits, as there was limited cargo space.

I am actually completely jealous about the detail and cleverness that went in the level design. I like it, it feels fresh for the longest of times. Great job !

Enjoyed the game! The art, music, and story all came together to made the world of the game feel interesting. The character voices, dialogue and the intro/outro had a unique personality and the presentation was good. It was also impressive to have the world be as big as it was, most jam games don't have that larger feeling to them. To be honest, I really didn't like the ship controls since it felt like I had to be constantly modulating the speed since the ship accelerates so fast. But overall it was an impressive entry!

I don't know why, but it reminds me of motherload, so I was convinced that the money man was the devil :laughing :

My only regret is the lack of enemies, because every mission, I was with my big laser to shred some aliens, but it never happened :cry :

@loiclegrosfrere Yes we had a plan to add enemies, wall that you could destroy and end boss all Graphics were ready but we unfortunately ran out of time and could not implement any of them. Very sad times :sob:

The story is very fun, i like all the different aliens. Vibing in space. The hardest part was controlling the space ship lol, one would thought that if you have 6 lives you wouldn't die from hitting walls constantly. Tho I still believe that landing was the hardest part. Art was nice, atmosphere was nice, the story was really enjoyable. Great work all of you!

Also SUOMI FINDLAND place to be, maybe we will meet in some future game developer event without ever knowing that I've played your game :eyes:

This game is an absolute delight! Having played several of your previous games, I must say this one is my new favourite. The 'voice acting' with its blend of nonsensical words and funny (sometimes Suomi-noises) accents was simply fantastic. It, combined with some great humour, made the game hillarious (the ending had me in tears)

One aspect that truly impressed me was the tight controls, manoeuvring the rocket ship just clicked instantly. It's not easy to achieve that level of precision, but you nailed it. Great use of the theme, having to plan ahead and decide what upgrades to bring was interesting. Specially since I never had any combat and realized a while in that bringing weapons was not smart haha. Was the missions randomized or were you just messing with the player?

I did not manage to get the high score to work for some reason, I would love to try to speed run this again to see how fast I can do it.

Overall, fantastic entry and impressive that you managed to coordinate with so many people onboard you team, that takes a lot of effort! :trophy:

@simon-rahnasto

thank you so much for the thorough review, nice that you enjoyed many aspects of the game. I tried to get the controls as near as possible to the classic cave fliers from the 90's.

We sadly ran out of time and some things are coming later as separate "DLC" in a week or so... That includes enemies, boss fight and scoreboard among other things.

...So missions were not randomized, they just missed some planned elements. We had great team that has skilled over time and also some very talented new people. Our lan-party part of the team was also 7 of the total 13 and it was nice and easy to handle the team that was under the same roof 😊

@tomssuli Makes sense, I always have to cut away so many things the last day haha. Would love to test the updated "DLC", ping me when you release it. Specially looking forward to speed running for the leader board

@simon-rahnasto I'll ping you for the DLC when it's ready!

We had especially thought out things that you can consider in speedruns - different upgrade sets will work better for certain routes so you can experiment to find the fastest way for you to play the different missions. So I'm eager to publish scoreboards and the additional game elements at the same time

Reminds me of the old game turboraketti :D I had very fun playing it and really loved the inventory/upgrade system.

Great entry! I really liked your inventory system, although I would have liked a way to rotate items (there may have been a way and I just didn't know). I think its impressive the amount of content you produced in such a short time and with a team that big I know its difficult to manage tasks for a jam, but its clear you work very efficiently. I think the camera biasing towards the forward vector of the ship instead of the velocity made it difficult to navigate downward. Often times you want to have your thruster facing away from the ship, but you want to move in the opposite direction so you may stop. I found I was being punished for orienting my ship correctly because I could see less. I loved your characters and audio, such an amazing vibe! Awesome job.

It took me a while but I finally managed to finish the game and get out of the Limbo!

That was a lot of fun! The gameplay was great, the controls and the physics were tight and the level design was also well thought out. The graphics could have been better, but the sprites of the main player and the instructor were hilarious, and so was the non-sensical dialogue and the humming voice acting. The music also created a nice atmosphere.

A nice entry that was very complete. I can see a lot of work went into it (menus, dialogues, etc, are not so trivial to implement in a weekend). Was there any cut content in the game? because I see there was that bomb and the lasers for enemies but there were none in the final game.

Good job!

Very nice use of the inventory, also the playability is great. I keep trying till I made it, and funny dialogues as well. Well done!

@exofrenon There were plenty of cut content because we ran out of time. We had planned for normal enemies, boss fight at the end, structures blocking your way with different ways to get around or through them and other stuff i can't remember from the top of my dome. BUT we are planning to release "DLC" version of the game with all the added stuff, so if you want to try that when it comes out, please do.
Can't wait to play it myself to be honest!

Thank you for the positive feedback!

Really fun scoot-arounding! It took me a bit of time to get into the mechanics of it, but in the end I had "full" control. (the booster was more a problem than a benefit - stack full o health works!)
The characters and story-bits were really nicely wonky and fun. Nice distinct pixel art style too.
Went through all missions! Well done! :tada:

@krexor Wow, it's probably been over twenty years when I last heard the word "Turboraketti"

...Turboraketti, Gravity Force 2, Auts, Wings, V-Wing etc. Good times! I've played them all. Cave fliers seem to be some kind of national indie game genre for Finns. All the more reason to throw in our 2 pennies too

@ludumdaredevil Thanks for the feedback!

This game was done quick and dirty and the sub-app system we used for both dialogue and the inventory screen wouldn't let them be open at the same time... Otherwise I'd put the dialogue right on top of the inventory screen in those cases...

However I'm addressing this issue in the DLC-edition of the game which I'm making at the moment. The flow for exchanging the quest items will be more smooth in that one! I can tag you when I release it, if you're still interested

I love this game man. Good shit. A bit rough around the edges but it really feels like a full game, it's got a story, silly dialogue, kinda dumb but lovable characters, fun gameplay. It was a nice little arcade lander gameplay with some nice story elements, it felt alive, I guess. Great job guys. Only thing I can really recommend would be a bit of polish for the graphics and the ui, but honestly the jankyness fit the vibe really well so I dig it.

I'm a bit disappointed there was no uses for the mines and the laser that I was carrying around with me the whole time, I guess I could've just filled those slots with extra health, but oh well lol

@technonugget Thank you for the nice review, glad to know you got so well into the mood of the game :)

For the mines and laser, there was actually some content we had to drop when the time ran out. Destructible walls, enemies, bossfight, scoreboards... But were doing a DLC edition where all the missing content can be played.

I've already done the bossfight and destructible walls so enemies and scoreboards to do and I'll publish it...Probably in couple of days. I can tag you when it's done if you're still interested
