Cube of a Gelatinous Sort by axelrinaldo

[raw]
made by axelrinaldo for Ludum Dare 54 (COMPO)

You are a Gelatinous Cube peacefully patrolling your dungeon when a horde of adventurers suddenly burst in. Time to consume!

Control a slime cube in a big open space while an evergrowing amount of fighters attack you. Consume them by simply touching them and watch them disolve but watch out! If the Limited Space inside of you is already full of adventurers you will be sliced and diced instead! On the plus side, eating all that delicious delicious flesh will make you bigger and give you more energy, allowing you to eat more adventurers at the same time and move faster. I unfortunately didn't have time for a win condition so just play until you lose or tire of playing. :D

For this LD, when I finally had the weekend entirely free and felt motivated my immune system decided it would be funny to go the way of Mike and make me sick. Of course. The TODO list I had left for this game is therefore almost as long as the list of the things I managed to do but at least I made something. I hope it doesn't bug out too much for you (I know for a fact the physics will if you get far enough) and gives you at least a moment of enjoyment. :) In spite of this critisism is very very welcome, while I bet a lot of it will be something I planned to do you can never have too much feedback. :D

Controls (or rather Control) & Instructions: - Hold the Left Mouse Button to make the Gelatinous Cube move to where you're pointing - If you have room in your cube (Capacity in bottom right of screen) you can bump into enemies to consume them - If you don't have room they will hurt you instead - Consumed enemies will disolve over time, freeing up space - Disolving enemies increases your size, capacity, mass and speed with diminishing payoffs the bigger you are

Nice game. I got invincible after a while. My blob got so big that I could not die.

The game was a lot of fun to play! I found the movement at the start to be a bit clunky, but as the game progress it started to feel smoother. It was a very well exectuted concept!

First the game felt a bit slow but it was probably on purpose. Nice entry overall. Maybe adding some win condition would be nice? After a while you become invincible and the you lose the interest in playing further.

Well, I did not enjoy the click-to-move-a-bit movement, the strategy was limited to going in circles around the main mass, and the game started lagging badly around capacity 30, but it is a superb take on the theme, the graphics and in particular the colors are lovely, I especially like the floor shading and how it matches with green cube.

I remember Quick to Judge and I had to check this one out too! It's hilarious devouring adventurers, and how the tables turn from a horde of them chasing you and barely getting around to having SO MUCH SPACE and practically letting them fall into your trap of merely existing 🤣 Well done, even while sick!
