Tiny Terror: Cradle of Souls by byazzle

You're a new hatchling in the Void. You haven't grown your tentacles, cut your first tooth, or donned your first top hat. But don't worry - everything's looking up.
Harvest souls and summon Elder Gods to grant you boons! Be wary though, they might be at a party or something so they don't take kindly to summons from Infant Gods like you.
Conserve your energy in this fast-paced, intuitive game and commune with the right Elder Gods to finally get enough souls to be more than a slug floating in the nothingness.

Rob, HOW?
@mhanicos - There's some gods that increase the number of souls but not the number you need to acquire, making things a lot easier. I did test in beta (byazzle and I worked on our games in the same room), and I think there was a bug with new souls spawning after completing the quota but before a bounce, but I just managed to get another 100+ score.
- The pantheon of Gods
- The feeling of firing my slug
- The music!
- Gambling on Keeper of the Celestial Labyrinths
At first, I really sucked at this game. Played until I edged onto the leaderboard.
My only note: Add some sort of UI to display bounce count, astral etc, what you have active.
A really really great entry!
You even add a leaderboard, impressive !
It was so engaging!
The game itself is very good, gods are funny. Balance is definitely all over the place - some gods are really good and some are just negative. It does make this game very addictive because you're just hoping for those good gods to appear, works really well for a game jam, but it does reduce the depth of gameplay a bit.
I would say that some descriptions of abilities would be helpful. It took me some time to understand what is Astral Projection - I thought that this purple ball is just visual because it never helps you
There is a bug which I couldn't figure how to reproduce, but I think it has to do with gods which change your soul requirements. When the bug happens you get double the souls spawned without requirements growing - so you have, for example, 8 souls while only 4 are required. So once you pick up those 4 next ones appear so you again have more than you need. I think that's how Rob was able to make this high score, I couldn't use it for a good game myself.
If you want to do some more with this game I think you should definitely explore the possibility of having more souls on the board than requirements, it was definitely more forgiving and included more strategy into how to collect the amount you needed.
Great job. It's addictive.
The bug resets after taking the next god, but in the meantime it's very easy as souls remain between rounds.
From my latest game:
After taking Just Fred (+1 energy, +3 required souls):

After taking the one that adds a barrier and reduces required souls by 6:

It was a lot of fun, the leaderboard is a great touch to get people like me addicted.
As others have said, it's a very very tough game, Obviously there is a lot of skill involved, but it does also feel like your "run" is largely RNG based.
Overall though amazing work. Loved the art, the game design, the controls, everything felt great.
I would like to see more power in the elder gods, maybe I don't fully understand the strategy but it seems most of them are negatives.
I would also like to see less random ball placement. It would be cool if the balls were placed in such a way that I could with good bounces score a bunch of them!
This is the game I've played the most so far in the game jam, well done!
I'd like to unwrap the game to the fullscreen, because I think those sprites deserves more pixels. And I really wanted elders to be more kinda a thing in the game - they are rather cool.
For a compo entry this one is really good one
