Emperor's Gems by Togis

Hurry!
The Emperor summoned you to carry the tax from your village to his castle! Unfortunately you are a weak wizard! You need to summon magical carriers to help you
Race against the clock
You have 5 minutes to reach the end of the road in this incremental strategy game. Summon Carrier minion to carry your transport. Summon Apprentice to absorb crystal on the road and give you more Mana.

But for real, it's a simple concept but weirdly addictive. It kinda has a cookie clicker quality to it where you bootstrap up and get faster which is really satisfying. I love the aesthetic as well!
The only thing I would suggest is to make the mana amount more prominent as it doesn't catch your eye very well and it was hard to track. Also, maybe some hotkeys for maximum efficiency :stuck_out_tongue:

My thoughts:
- Great choice of music!
- Nice sound effects and feedback
- Super smart idea to show the crystals ahead. Allowed me plan a bit more and finally win the run
- Right and left could be switched, thinking from the perspective of the cart
- I was often confused trying to find the buttons I wanted, so maybe placing them close to the position they will spawn would have been great
- Maybe having the improvements to be global, instead of right and left specific would clean up the options in a nice way.
- I loved the "Click Me" fountains. Would have been nice to see other ways to interact with the road
Amazing entry! Congrats on the submission!
There's definitely a dominant strategy that will see you successful every time  I managed to do the Emperor's bidding on my second try with 40 seconds to spare.
The game feels really polished. Superb job - take a cookie :cookie: :smile_cat:

The game was so chill I didn't realize there was a time limit and failed xD

I was too concentrated on my carriers and collecting mana and was having a relaxing journey x) Even made me think a little about one board game I liked, Tokaido. There you also go through one road, and it's also relaxing (gameplay is quite different though). The atmosphere in your game is really nice, if it didn't have time limit, I would love that xD But of course many players might have different opinion (I am personally just not a fan of time limits tbh! especially in such relaxing games x))
Also, the take on the theme is quite unique in my opinion, and the game idea feels fresh. I enjoyed my playthrough ^-^
Chars are so cute that I was thinking if they're okay pushing such a big thing :D
3d art fits perfectly with ui and music is a cherry on top. It has amazing atmosphere and is a bit addictive.
If we are to give some feedback here the only thing I can think of which could be added if you were to spend more time on it - more complicated animations for the characters. But even as is it's a very cool jam game.
Well done!
Such a fun and cute game! I want merch pleaaaaase 🥹
First of all, the art is so cool, color palette is perfect, music matches the vibe perfectly and the concept is so innvative. Love that you add directly for html player the option to fullscreen inside the game. Also good balance as in the second run I managed to win just with 12 seconds left.
A couple of notes:
- It was weird for me to spawn right apprentices in the left side of the walk and viceversa. Failed many times.
- Sometimes when spawinig directly on the resource, the apprentice didn't picked it up, although it was going through the object completely.
- Clicking alakazam when restarting game didn't work the first time, had to click twice.
Overall a super fun cozy clicker game! Great job guys and will pass by your stream sometimes definitelly. Loved your comment on ours ^^

Here's my score. It looks like fabula beat me by a bunch

Also wanted to say thanks so much for playing my game on stream. It's cool to watch your different play styles :)

What I found a bit confusing was that I intuitively assumed (and I had a hard time to get rid of that assumption) that left/right assistant is from the perspective of tax collector not the player, who doesn't really have left/right more like up/down. But perhaps it is just me.
One other thing is that, given already nice shape of the panels (with speed, carrier number, mana generation etc.), perhaps those could be buttons as a whole? It would be easier to click on them than to aim for the little pluses.
did i got the high score? i was _ZOOMIN_ at the end xD

The idea is great. The graphics are beautiful and the music is very good. The mechanics are very interesting and the reading of the topic is very interesting. I felt a little lack of movement in the characters, but I imagine I left it aside to focus on more important things.
Congratulations!
At this point in the LD scoring phase, my mousing elbow (not shoulder!) hurts a bit, even with my ergonomic vertical mouse, so I might be recommending this for basically every game, but I would have loved some keyboard controls, even if it was just four keys to summon the little guys and still mouse only for upgrades. Maybe a visual timer on the guys too? I know I lost a lot of assistants right before a crystal and often wasn't able to summon a new one until I had just missed it.
Apart from that, it felt good to play and felt fair. Beat it my first try and then lost a few when either my cat was distracting me or I was experimenting with weird builds like prioritizing the top row upgrades too much. Do you know what the fastest possible time is, or the best anyone's gotten? (I'm a bit tempted to start throwing numbers in a spreadsheet but I should probably wait until after the scoring period.)
