For me, although I understand that the 'summoning to teach maths' is intended to be distracting and frustrating, I found it quickly reduced the amount of fun I was having. I would suggest that these interruptions are much less frequent.
If this entire game was just to build a cake out of random ingredients in the kitchen, I would have honestly rated it higher haha that part of the game is really fun and well-made!
Overall: This is a great game with a fun concept and has great game-feel (when in the kitchen)!
Really nice design all the way around! Very high marks from me. The recipe being convoluted was a bit frustrating but frustration is kind of the name of the game when you're constantly being summoned to teach math to small children.
I managed to bake a serial murderer's grumpy flower cake. But with this job teaching schoolkids, anyone would become as bald as a skeleton and a serial killer.
The game is goofy and fun. As others said, maybe it's a little bit too frustrating, but I appreciate it as is. Great job with the soundtrack, art and writing!
@rillep - Thanks! Happy you liked it!
@caz-creates-games - Thank you! Yeah, I agree with you about the summoning being too annoying - I kind of prioritized my take on the theme over fun, which... wasn't a great idea. Oh well, I'll try to avoid that in the future. Happy you liked the kitchen segment though!
@mrwarranty - Thanks! Glad the game is relatable :)
@woona - Thank you! Enjoy your serial murderer's cake, and happy you liked it!
@cagibi - Thanks! A very common situation indeed. Yeah, a warning is a good idea.
Great art style & sound design!
You made a game both about **sum**moning and **sum**mation, that's very cool.
The art and audio is very nice, I really love it. Also, thank you so much for making a Linux build! Unfortunately, I feel like the times when you get summoned is getting boring over time, as the gameplay there is always the same. At the end I did bake a cake! ...an edgy lizard cake (i think that's what it was called).
Anyway, I really want to play this game again. Overall, great job!
@6knowledge - Sorry for the lack of a cat... Will try to remedy this next time!
@sozey - Thank you!
@altaf-creator - Thanks a lot! Glad you liked it! I agree about the summons being too boring, the gameplay being very samey is a good point. Enjoy your edgy lizard cake!
The music/sound design was really good! Enjoyed listening to the track while playing the game.
The execution of how/how frequently the player is summoned to math class could probably do with some tweaking. Personally it was riding a fine line between being annoying vs frustrating, but it did a really good job of invoking the feeling of "Leave me alone and let me make cake!"
The math class gameplay was decent with the kids randomly interrupting to ask questions, and served as a good juxtaposition to the cake baking gameplay.
Really solid compo entry
@pimeko - Thanks! Yeah, great minds think alike and all that :)
@asieke - Thanks a lot! Happy you liked all these aspects! I agree with you about tweaking how the player is summoned to math class, perhaps pausing the timer while reading the recipe or basing it on the number of actions instead of real-time would've been less frustrating.
@mistercarson - Thank you! Yeah, the math portion being too annoying/happening too often is definitely a problem here.
@captaindreamcast - Thank you for the detailed feedback! Glad you liked so many parts of it, and replayed the game to see the different cakes! About getting 100% score (and the hidden Perfect Cake) - it is possible, but the recipe was probably too convoluted (mixing and stirring are indeed the same thing though). The (non-obfuscated) recipe goes like this: 5 Cut Lizard Tails, 6 Eyeballs, Stir, 1 Cooked Tentacle, 4 Cut Fun Guys, Stir, 15 Grumpy Flowers, 1 Cooked Mr. Fluffy, Stir, 1 Tentacle, Bake.
But now, it is finally mine:

Again, very cool game, thanks!
