incredibly lovely - very nice artwork and sound design, i love how it shows you every step you took at the end of the game. the wizard constantly summoning you is _very_ annoying, i just want to bake a cake god damnit!

This made me laugh a bit, it was so random! The interuptions gave me mixed feelings of frustration (I just wanted to finish the recipe) and joy. The sound and music was very good.

I love the art style for this game. And the mechanics of putting the ingredients together was very satisfying with the visual and audio feedback!

For me, although I understand that the 'summoning to teach maths' is intended to be distracting and frustrating, I found it quickly reduced the amount of fun I was having. I would suggest that these interruptions are much less frequent.

If this entire game was just to build a cake out of random ingredients in the kitchen, I would have honestly rated it higher haha that part of the game is really fun and well-made!

Overall: This is a great game with a fun concept and has great game-feel (when in the kitchen)!

I think we've all been in this very common situation.

Really nice design all the way around! Very high marks from me. The recipe being convoluted was a bit frustrating but frustration is kind of the name of the game when you're constantly being summoned to teach math to small children.

The title describes the game quite accurately.

I managed to bake a serial murderer's grumpy flower cake. But with this job teaching schoolkids, anyone would become as bald as a skeleton and a serial killer.

The game is goofy and fun. As others said, maybe it's a little bit too frustrating, but I appreciate it as is. Great job with the soundtrack, art and writing!

Great game, I like the idea of a dual gameplay reminiscent of the full-time job of many of us. Maybe the frustration could be eased by some kind of anticipation/early warning for the summoning.

@comfylenny - Thank you! Glad you liked the final recipe showcase!

@rillep - Thanks! Happy you liked it!

@caz-creates-games - Thank you! Yeah, I agree with you about the summoning being too annoying - I kind of prioritized my take on the theme over fun, which... wasn't a great idea. Oh well, I'll try to avoid that in the future. Happy you liked the kitchen segment though!

@mrwarranty - Thanks! Glad the game is relatable :)

@woona - Thank you! Enjoy your serial murderer's cake, and happy you liked it!

@cagibi - Thanks! A very common situation indeed. Yeah, a warning is a good idea.

Hey! Somebody also made a game about summation! Absolutely amazing!

You made a game both about **sum**moning and **sum**mation, that's very cool.

The art and audio is very nice, I really love it. Also, thank you so much for making a Linux build! Unfortunately, I feel like the times when you get summoned is getting boring over time, as the gameplay there is always the same. At the end I did bake a cake! ...an edgy lizard cake (i think that's what it was called).

Anyway, I really want to play this game again. Overall, great job!

@danga - Thank you!

@6knowledge - Sorry for the lack of a cat... Will try to remedy this next time!

@sozey - Thank you!

@altaf-creator - Thanks a lot! Glad you liked it! I agree about the summons being too boring, the gameplay being very samey is a good point. Enjoy your edgy lizard cake!

This was a fun idea! After a while I just wanted to speed through the sums and bake the damn cake, which I guess was the point :D The art and music were really nice and it felt like a pretty well polished compo game.

Haha really loved the mood, cool design and overall super fun! We do have a similar concept (I did the skeleton girlfriend game haha) so it was awesome to play another one like it :) Good job!

Liked the touch of having hand-written notes on the recipe, it invoked the feeling of reading an actual recipe card.

The music/sound design was really good! Enjoyed listening to the track while playing the game.

The execution of how/how frequently the player is summoned to math class could probably do with some tweaking. Personally it was riding a fine line between being annoying vs frustrating, but it did a really good job of invoking the feeling of "Leave me alone and let me make cake!"

The math class gameplay was decent with the kids randomly interrupting to ask questions, and served as a good juxtaposition to the cake baking gameplay.

Really solid compo entry

I love the visual style of this game, it's really fun. I saw a couple of other comments talk about this but the math portion is a bit annoying. I would be reading through some of the recipe trying to figure things out and then get dragged away from it only to forget where I was at when I came back. I just found it a bit distracting from making the cake (which would have definitely been super cold at this point, I was not very good at this). Overall though it's a very striking game that oozes charm, great work!

Hilarious take on the theme, I was already giggling before starting the game with the summoning and sums thing. The art and sound design was lovely as well, I loved the spinning skull with the summoning that appeared every time the skelecook turned into a skeleteacher and the S U M M O N I N G that goes along with it. Also the cakes are great, I got four of them (for some reason I always max out at 90%, I'm not sure why, maybe mixing and stirring aren't the same thing?). The cakes I got are the salad lover's lizard wonder, the grumpy flowers one, one that seemed very tentacle-heavy and a cake made purely out of energy drinks (this one was for Mark). On the Mark note, the recipe is also super charming, I love the scribbles and personality in there. The sums were a great foil, I have to say, in the heat of the stove battle I genuinely managed to get tripped up, I actually got one wrong, I was feeling the tension. Sound design was also great with the aforementioned sound effect for summoning and others like the one for stirring. Super cool game, awesome idea, great job!

@tomi-vahamaki - Thank you! I spent longer than usual on polishing this time - glad that came through!

@pimeko - Thanks! Yeah, great minds think alike and all that :)

@asieke - Thanks a lot! Happy you liked all these aspects! I agree with you about tweaking how the player is summoned to math class, perhaps pausing the timer while reading the recipe or basing it on the number of actions instead of real-time would've been less frustrating.

@mistercarson - Thank you! Yeah, the math portion being too annoying/happening too often is definitely a problem here.

@captaindreamcast - Thank you for the detailed feedback! Glad you liked so many parts of it, and replayed the game to see the different cakes! About getting 100% score (and the hidden Perfect Cake) - it is possible, but the recipe was probably too convoluted (mixing and stirring are indeed the same thing though). The (non-obfuscated) recipe goes like this: 5 Cut Lizard Tails, 6 Eyeballs, Stir, 1 Cooked Tentacle, 4 Cut Fun Guys, Stir, 15 Grumpy Flowers, 1 Cooked Mr. Fluffy, Stir, 1 Tentacle, Bake.

Ahhh, I see, I put in 3 eyeballs and 5 flowers, those were the two mistakes I still had.
But now, it is finally mine:

Again, very cool game, thanks!

That was fun! The game concept is wacky and funny :D I was unsure at the start what doing mistakes in the summing does, but figured it out after seeing end screen. Overall, great game, especially for Compo category.
