Summonundrum by James Greenleaf

Use abilities and combos to defeat waves of monsters sent by an evil summoner (offscreen, presumably).
Playable on the web at: https://amoniker.itch.io/summonundrum
Controls:
- Move Cursor: WASD/Arrows/D-pad
- Select & Use Abilities: Space/Enter/Gamepad0
- Cancel Targeting: Escape/X/C/Gamepad1
How to play:
Waves of monsters attack from the right. If they reach the red line, game over!
Use the cursor to select an ability and use it on a monster. Monsters are only vulnerable to the ability icons they show. You have to clear each monster's icons to kill it.
Each character has a gauge that automatically charges. Charge it up once to use an ability on a single monster. Let it charge twice and the ability will chain through adjacent monsters!
Chains can be any length, but only go up/down/left/right, not diagonal. You get a score multiplier for killing multiple monsters in a chain!
Good luck!

It got frantic near the end as the hordes were closing in, which definitely helped with the mood.
Like the active mechanic, definitely had me sucked in.
Beautiful intro screen!
Maybe, surviving monsters could re-align after some died. This way could improve the combo-managment gameplay instead of just manage the random.
One of the coolest game I played this days.
**Second monster icon**: appears
The game is addictive, nice work!
Sick game! The art is great, the music has me jamming. The gameplay has me playing multiple rounds! Keep working on it post-LD
The gameplay was easy to understand and well explained at the beginning.
Was very much hooked on getting combos and the overall fast paced nature the game had.
This clearly had a lot of thought put into it Well Done!
Great job on the submission and good luck with the gaming!
flashy graphics, fast-paced music, addictive gameplay, the high score - and you lose quickly too!
I just want to play again and again - here's another quarter!
On a side-note, as an artist, I'm thankful that you opted out from the Graphics and Audio rating categories. That actually means a lot <3
I felt like some skills were significantly weaker than the others, turning the corresponding enemies into stronger ones in comparison. Followed by weird realization of "okay, I probably shouldn't use this one for anything but swords" XD
Edit: forgot to say this is the hardest name I have ever tried to pronounce xD

Hitting esc to back out of a selection was a bit unintuitive even though I knew about it, so might I suggest mapping <- / a to cancel if you are already on the leftmost row of enemies?
Also 🤘 to the font.
The difficulty ramps up at a good rate, the music is a bop (even if you didn't make it, still adds to the experience) and I enjoyed my time with it a lot. Fantastic job.
Great job!
(I was more than happy enough to play through this one another few times though, excellent entry)
