Gacha Panic by Squidly
Who says you can't make a living doing the things you love?

Collect a wide selection of gachapon creatures and have them fight to collect money for you!

And don't forget to pay your rent.
Browser version on itch.io (embedding on LDJam is busted)
NOTE: The itch.io page has the v1.2 version of the game as the embedded html5. We have since made changes to pacing (the beginning was too hard) and switching the scoring from only time survived to score based, and slightly improved coin tracking/player handling. This may impact the FUN category. No visual changes were made. When rating the FUN category consider the executable v1.0's gameplay NOT the embedded html5 version (which is v1.2.)

That being said, I really love the attention to detail in the animations, you clearly have some very talented devs on your team. I hope you make more games, I would love to play them.
And the graphics are amazing! Can't imagine how hard it is to put ouy something this good in such a short time
It got really laggy for me fast, and I whish there was more focus on what each gachapon pull does
If there's any constructive criticism to be made it would be the controls -- the movement physics are rather clunky, I would remove a bit of the acceleration or cancel it entirely when I start moving a different direction. Other than that awesome job! Would love to see that as a full game with more scenarios or just more space to wander around!
Stressful but fun! It feels a little too close to home with spending more money on toys than expenses! ;) :P
What a submission! I applaud you! 5 stars!
Amazing graphics and audio, humor and mood are all fantastic.
I was not able to play on firefox as the game was stuttering vehemently. The gameplay itself is not bad, but I had some performance issue even in chrome and I wish my gachas didn't die so fast so I could actually build up a team. The optimal strategy I found was identifying a route of 6-7 machines not too far apart, then running that route up and down until the game over. At some point it is just a barrage of fighting sounds and off-screen battles. Not sure what could have been done there to improve but I still had fun regardless. Perhaps reducing the aggro range of the monsters and zooming the camera out a bit more so you can actually pick your fights. Its hard to build up a team when something just runs into you at random. Also sometimes soda-monsters would appear super early once i built up a team, did you guys put in a active counter mechanic?
In conclusion great game with amazing assets, a bit more polish on the game-play loop would make it fantastic.
Oh, and until someone posts a higher score, I am claiming the title of gacha-empress

EDIT:
I think this is my limit, 170k short of the 300k

Props to the entire team! :)
It goes without saying it, but stellar presentation all around. It really is impressive how many of the gachamons you created, and all of them look great ( or atleast the one's I saw so far. Although I'm sure the other ones also look great )
The audio is also pretty cute as well. Especially the duck lol
However, I have some qualms with the gameplay. I think the game would've benefitted from the player's movement being more snappy in general. That and I think it was a little annoying have the gachamons attacking an enemy I didn't want them to. Especially when it meant that they would die if their health was too low.
Admittedly this does add to the overall tension of the gamesince it forces you to move quickly and prioritise which gacha vendor to get to, but I think it would be better if you could decide when your gachas attack as opposed to them auto-targetting
Regardless of that though, this game's got a ton of charm and was damn fun
great work
I feel like as long as you don't overspend in the beginning, the game can go for a while.
Sooo fun, I had a lot of pleasure to play this game. I love the idea!
Sounds are great but a bit loud
Thank you for this game, I had a very cool moment.

Loved the art style and the idea of the game, I got a bit lost wandering parts of the city with no vending machines. It'd be cool to have some indicators of where to find enemies / vending machines etc.
Also the game play loop has some issues. I managed to hit the Due: 50000 only looping on 3 near gacha machines. The enemies drop way to many coins and have way to much life later on. A really good game idea but I wasn't so fond of. Just my opinion.
When I grow up I want to draw like this...
Gachapon!!
I reached 10000. Does this game have an end?
No but really, it was fun to see how you incorporated the gacha mechanic with the automatic fighting and gave it an external incentive with the duck landlord. Total chaos that works really nice together! :grinning:
Not only the graphics are beautiful, I like the attention to detail, like the base of the characters being an indicator of how damage they took.

And I'm the host for the ludum dare score chasers tournament this Ludum Dare. Wanted to ask if youre fine if I put some gameplay of the game in an intermission video. Last year for reference:

Good fun and really cute design with sweet colors, but when there are people on screen the game slows down and jerks.
Nice job!
What a beautiful game and a solid entry you guys made! Lovely art, music and humor!
Congratulations! I'm wishing a great score to you guys!
heres what i got in web build (v1.2 i think)

It was an amazing experience! Loved the art concept. It was very funny.
It reminded me how it its my life... struggling to just survive and pay my monthly rent... (crying inside).
I wish you all the best.
## Gacha! yeh!
