This was great! I loved the opening here - jumping off a cliff is a truly dramatic entrance. The graphics in general were really nice here, I enjoy this version of cellular creatures much more than the real-life counterparts. The puns and humour were awesome too (cheese...). I never knew that the secret to a good martial arts fight was a sword.
I actually really liked the juice mechanic here - it was a great way to prevent the game from being too punishing/frustrating with a very generous amount of "life", while also rewarding good play with higher scores.
One thing which was a bit confusing though was the background/one-way platforms. They were used as a background in several places, but also served as a part of platforming in others, and it took me a while to figure out you can stand on them and press down to go through them. The corners there felt a bit weird too.
Overall though, I enjoyed it! Great entry!
I tried something with the background platforms (steps one tile high acting as slopes), so that I wouldn't need slopes. Though I agree it plays weird with the one-way platform system in some (literal) corner cases.
I kept it because it gives a squishy/mushy vibe, and there are no punishing deaths if you fall off.
I AM... I AM SHOCKED! Its such a great game for compo. I love it so much!
Has a Pizza Tower vibes. My the only 5.0 for now.
MASTERPICE WORK!
FeedbackL
- Grapics are very well done and polished. I like the colorscheme and the overall feel
- The sound effects are great. Even the lack of music in the 'transitionroom' between the last level and the boss really adds to the doom-feeling just before seeing the boss
- I love how you loose the juices when getting hit. It's a modern take on these kinds of games. I'm still stuck in that mindset of having hearts, and when they run out the level restarts... What you did is much more fun!
- However, this system felt a but useless when confronting the boss. I felt like it did not really matter when I got hit. Then I realized that the juices are a kind of score, and that they slowly disappear. I ended up with 0 juices. So I guess, if one wants the highscore, that it really DOES matter to not get hit after all :-)
The ending cracked me up haha

I consider this game a Winner
I love the blob's movements. It's so SLIPPY! I like the way it moves. It's hard to control the blob, but it's fun. I didn't read much of the dialogue (I missed a lot of the humor). The locations are very colorful and stylish. My favorite part was the boss fight. It was really challenging. I also like that I can take damage multiple times thanks to the juice.
Like I said, the game has a pizza tower vibe. It's stylish, colorful, wacky. And I like it. It would have been cool to have an opening cutscene, but I understand that this is a comp. Definitely one of the games.
Didn't quite get all 100, but pretty close?

I got stuck on like the 3rd level on top of a cell below me that was blocking the way towards the end of the level that I didn't know how to destroy
But yeah --- real impressive you could do all that on your own in 48h only --- kudos to you --- great sound design also --- keep it up happy testing tc man :-)
@strangeryann thanks! The keys in that level are a bit less visible. If all else fails, you can restart with R.
@sudocoffee I actually didn't count the maximum score until now. There was even a patch near the end of compo time to raise the amount of juice drops because lots of testers had none left after the boss fight. But with perfect play, you can get… *checks all levels* 99 points. I know, frustrating right?
