Wild Ketch by RamboBeans

[raw]
made by RamboBeans for Ludum Dare 56 (JAM)

Pay off your debt by catching and selling cute creatures! Try to do it as fast as possible or take your time and relax in this cozy world full of weird looking creatures!

I hope you enjoy it!

This was originally intended for the Compo, but i didn't make the deadline by half an hour, so I decided to work a bit more on it and upload it for the Jam.

Ps. I didn't do that much balancing but it was fun for me :grimacing:

Fun game! Thanks for submitting to the jam! One thing I'd suggest is to reduce the amount of text in the tutorial! It can be quite overwhelming to read a big wall of text haha!

A really fun entry about capturing a whole slew of quirky little creatures. Definitely in need of a bit of balancing since I realised immediately after buying the net that upgrading the lure was pointless, but overall a great game

Loved it! I think this is an amazing base to build and improve into a bigger game! Would love to see more upgrades, maybe something to auto-sell, or to make the hook useful again after a while? Great job!

The design really catches my eye. It’s one of the games with the best harmony between the UI and the other visual elements. I always thought it is harder to achieve this when the game is 3D. The mechanics are both engaging and enjoyable. Great job!

Haven't seen an incremental game about creature collecting. I liked the manual part of the game, not so much the growing and automation personally.
Different ways to catch different creatures could have been nice.
Cute models too.

I'm impressed by the variation on the creature. It felt like there were more then three types.
Catching the creatures was fun, selling not so much. An auto-sell upgrade would have been nice as clicking sell individually on each one when your garden is massively overcrowded was a bit tedious.
The end card stats were not displayed.

Neat clicker style game! Unfortunately you can end in a late-game state where you basically run out of creatures, and the pacing grinds to a halt. More scaling and an auto-seller upgrade would be great to push this into Cookie Clicker territory.

@someone @menacingmecha Thanks for playing and the valuable feedback! I didn't get to balance the numbers so the experience gets a bit boring after a short wile of playing. An auto selling feature is a great idea!

I finished the game and paid off my debt! Simple process, very cute monsters, good idea. I think the gameplay could be more diverse, BUT if it wasn't a jam game (especially Compo!). Everything works as it should and it's completely finished, that's cool. The only minus, the very beginning seems too slow, but as soon as you get the net, everything immediately becomes faster and more fun. And it lacked cute music, of course. Overall, good job!

Fun game, I echo the auto selling idea. I didn't have a score on the end score window though. Played on Windows 11

I don't think the net needed the lag it did since it pops up immediately where you start clicking. Getting the net really shorted the game and got rid of the challenge. I think instead it should be some form of trap you set to augment the use of the fishing rod. While you wait for it to spring, you go back to using the rod.

The interpretation of the theme is spot-on, and the game’s art style is exquisite. God Job!

@tsaot Thanks for playing and the cool feedback! The trap idea instead of the net is a great idea which was on my mind aswell post game jam. If I'm gonna work a bit more on it, I'll probably add something like that into the game! Also I probably oopsied the end screen sorry about that :sob:
