Quantum Inferno Run by LeReveur

This was clearly not the kind of game I had in mind when I began to work on this. That's why you have a graphic setup without any story. On the other hand, I didn't think I would come again with a runner game, remembering the near-disaster of my first attempt to make one some LD's ago. But here we are, I made another runner. Really bad balanced, but way much better than my previous, so I guess I'm learning stuff by doing the Ludum again and again
I wanted to add some music this time, but I'm not good to make music, and despite of my searchs on free-use musics I didn't manage to find one that fit with my game, so I gave up on this idea. As for SFX, for any obscure reason, my micro didn't worked as attended.
Theoretically, you have to move between the three depths along the run, to gain benefits of each one's caracteristics. But in the facts, you'll probably chose to stay with the easiest one for all the run: as I said, this is bad balanced. However, I hope you'll have some little fun trying to go as far as you can.
This time, all the help on the controls and UI are in the game, but the hint screen is very uggly - that's why I didn't uploaded any screen of this :joy:

Found it difficult to tell the difference between the background and the floor in some sections, making it hard to know when to jump.
The layer effect was done really well!
With good rhythmic music at the background it will be more better)
I'd like to see how this idea can be grown with some more specific tricks bound to each layer.
By the way, the controls already feel quite responsive.
And yes, since it's a very dynamic game, I thought that GIF should present the game a little bit better.
But when I tried to record one, it appeared to be a little glitchy due to the effects on the character :D

Well, you got me, now I want to search how to make one -and I'm gonna do right now
And for creating GIFs, I record video using **OBS** at first.
Then, rescale, cut, crop, and convert the video to a GIF via a Python script that uses the **moviepy** package.
But I'm sure that there are more convenient ways to do so
Like you said, I stayed on one depth because it's a fast game so I can't afford to spend time on switching depth.
Maybe with some slowing moments (like a bullet time at some point), I could take the time to think of the next depth I want to go, depending on the next level parts I see.
Good job!

I experimented with the depth levels but, as you suggested, found that one level (the top) was best. I imagine with a little tweaking you could make the game more balanced so that each level has its own pros and cons. Perhaps you could reduce the number of obstacles on one level, but increase the speed, or something like that. Regardless, overall this is an unusual entry, one that shows thought and creativity. Certainly it has potential. Well done.
Music and sound effects, even just small bips and beeps when you jump, land, etc, can do wonders to add a bit of polish to your game. SFXR or BFXR are pretty good for this and they're free, just so you know
Still, played this longer than I probably should have given the amount of people who requested a rating from me lol, so good job!
Thanks for jumping in and sharing your link. It IS good enough ;)
