Fran the Ant woke up one day to find her ant colony completely abandoned! Follow Fran's adventures as she runs and jumps her way out of the deepest depths of the ant hill towards a brighter future.

As she makes her daring escape, she can't help but feel like she's being watched... but there's no sense dwelling on it. She'll need to focus to clear all 9 levels in this unique 2D platformer.

Thank you! And I forgot to add in that you can press R to quick-reload the current level! I just updated the build to include that as part of the "tutorial" on Level 2!

I like how the game fits the theme of the jam. It was very fun juggling between the different depths of the level while platforming. It would had been very nice to have the level automatically restart when I fall of the edge. I got kind of annoyed pressing R every single time I died. I think you did a good job on level design though!

It's funny when hear the ant's voice when it's fall. Stucking on level 2, don't know how to make it through but 9 levels are very fun to play, good work guys.

This is incredibly charming and a lot of fun. I always try to pay attention to my own reactions when I'm playing something and I literally gasped, laughed, and went "Ohhhh" while playing this, so it obviously grabbed me. I had a lot of fun making my way through and the last room was definitely solidly tricky. I don't know that I've seen this exact mechanic before so it was really cool to explore it. Nice puzzle design!

Thanks for playing Deep Bat Rage and I'm glad you enjoyed it. And congrats on finishing!

Loved the simplicity of the game. Like that you managed to create so many levels in short amount of time.

Interesting mixture of platformer and memory game. I love that the pitch of the ant's wail is in perfect harmony with the music.

It reminds a mechanics in Guacamelee. Nicely done and good interpretation of the theme!

I love how you used a double meaning on the jam theme. The unique mechanic of the game is pretty fun, and the sound effects are charming. I did keep falling off the edge when entering a new level - but a little more space could easily fix that.

Nice game that actually feels finished!
The water level was a little bit laggy. And it was tough in an of it self.

A little music would have been nice.

I like the focus / DOF implementation. You did well with the 3 layers. It was a bit of a memorization game too because of that

Wow, really cool concept! I was also thinking about doing a mechanic where you switch depth of field to choose your path, but I couldn’t quite get it working technically, so I shelved the idea. Splitting it into three distinct layers like you did is a clever approach. Really liked it!

The idea is nice but the level design a little bit too unfair. It was hard for me to memorize the layering because of the 2D nature of this game I guess.

Very cute game! I love the focus mechanic feels really nice to play around with. I just wish there was a way to tell which way I'm supposed to focus the next platform (maybe there is and I just haven't figured it out if so, I apologize haha), I found myself standing on a platform and just wishing I would focus the right way and the right amount after jumping to the next one, which I failed to do multiple times:D Would also be nice to have an automatic reset and to disable movement for a split second at the start of a new level. Overall great job tho!

One needs to be awake and alert to play this game. The mechanic idea is solid, but its use is punishing. I wish I could progress further, but I lack the nerve. Also, the falling sound, while cute at first, becomes grating the more you miss the platform and fall.

Cool interpretation of the theme. And with the funny noises and quick respawns it didn't feel too punishing. I only noticed some od behavior when getting stuck in walls.
