Flaglot by CodeAprèsMinuit

[raw]
made by CodeAprèsMinuit for Ludum Dare 59 (COMPO)

Ludum Dare 59! A small game where you select a flag to give orders. In Flaglot, you must select a flag to send an attack command to your unit.

Each flag represents a different order: red for rage, blue for defense, and a lighter red for attack.

I couldn’t implement everything I had planned—I especially wanted to add a very annoying goblin that steals your flags! I also wanted to include waves of monsters to fight.

It was still really fun to make!

Good luck to everyone who hasn’t finished yet! Here is the cartridge: flaglot.p8.png You can view code, assets, etc by clicking and dragging the image into the pico8 here https://www.pico-8-edu.com/

Awesome graphics and great design. Very good art and theming. I was very confused on what I was meant to be doing for a while. I knew I could pick up the flags but I didn't know who I was fighting or what I was trying to avoid. I eventually noticed the rock/paper/scissors game and did manage to win at least once. The awesome graphics and mood with a bit more obvious tutorialisation would go well.

Very cool to see a Pico8 game on here! Interesting concept, I like the art and the sounds :) I was a little confused to begin with but I managed to figure it out. It's a shame you couldn't get the goblins implemented, it feels like it would have made grabbing the flags much more engaging!

Nice rock paper scissors game. Yeah, that's what this game is in a nutshell. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

Funny game, like @steveofstevesgames said, there is a rock/paper/scissors vibe!

I feel like your original intent was to make a better use of the "arena" (like the goblin you mentionned) to "justify" the need to move and grab flags.

Let me know if you add more features later!

Good idea, nice job!
