Hello, Ludum!

We skiped last one, and back to 45th LD. That our 15th Ludum Dare entry, yeh.

  • Unfortunately, this time we have run out of time, and the game does not really work =\
We made spritesnimations, hud, music, sounds, but the rpg system turned out to be a quite complex stuff, and we did not manage to bring it into working condition.
  • So we failed this time, yep.
  • But we saved this page, and will update to playable version after some time, so that people can play it.
We don't want any high place or anything, remember - WE FAILED, working build will be added after the end of submission hour.
We just want show our game, and give ake some feedback.
  • Right now battles actually don't work, so you can play as a pacifist :D.

  • ### All code, animation and music made during the Ludum Dare #45

Hey @finlal
Looks like you have a lot of art work, and the artwork looks pretty good!
Even though you don't have a finished and playable game, it might be worth doing a youtube video of someone running though it so we can see it in action? And failure does not mean you don't deserve a ranking, even though the game did not come together, there's still art and sound and mechanics and the idea, they are all worth getting a ranking :)

Would love to see this when it's done, as it looks like a really classic RPG with great art.

I dont know how your game works, but it looks and sounds so epically retro C64 style. The soundtrack really catched me. So I just sat and listened for a while.

I really enjoyed the game! I really like the concept and the game play was fun and challenging. What engine did you use and were you planning to open source it ?

What a great game, I'm really impressed! Beautiful art style, as well as a fun twist by not only upgrading yourself, but also the the track! It would be a great addition to give a possibility to make the track bigger. Nonetheless great idea and neat execution! :sparkler:

Really enjoyed the game! Was a little confused what to do at first but got the hang of things really quick, i got to enemy level 10 before dying because i screwed myself over putting too many spawns next to each other! Great job!

I know you're not trying to pull anything fishy but the post jam game could be clearer on the link to your game. Just put post jam in the link text.

Having said that, the game in the post jam state is excellent overall. It is one of the more fun games I've played so far. I enjoy the strategy of placing the buildings. It's just too slow paced at first. The little polish elements like the animation and sound for swapping between inventory/walk mode are excellent.

The game speed does pick up after placing buildings/towers. The tower doesn't let you know range as you place it, which is important to know if you can't move it after.

I strangely like that it reminded me of passing go in monopoly.

Continuing after losing the game blocks you from restarting.

One of the best games I have seen so far! I really like it. The art and music are incredible. I eventually stopped playing, because I have to get some things done. This is what I ended up with:

I think it would be more challenging if you had to place all these buildings you get. You can just ignore the dangerous ones.

Anyway, really cool game. Good Work!

I beat the final boss I think, but then the game froze during his dying animation:

It look realy cool now, but i don't think you are still on the rules of the ludum.
You vote for a lot of games to have the maximum of views, it's cool to have a lot of playtests and feedbacks, but in that way you collect votes too, that will not be fair for others who participate to this jam.
Anyway, it's a cool game with geat music.
I never had a good enought start on my 3 runs to make a long play, you can maybe make a better balance and less random for the start game.
I even think that you can continue your game with that mechanic up to make a marketable game.

@larnin Yeah, it was in unfinished originally, then one of the team members put it in jam for some reason when editing.
Now it's back in unfinished, thanks for the tip

Wow this is a really cool entry! The mechanics of building up the world as you go is very cool and I could totally see this being expanded upon further. Really great work! Only thing I would add is some kind of visual indicator that you are paused (like some sort of filter on the main game screen) so you don't accidentally leave the game paused for a while.

Simple, but fun concept. Haven't even noticed how I spent 30 minutes on this game
