Wizard Vs Warlock by Lafolie

[raw]
made by Lafolie for LD34 (JAM)
Battle against a friend or the CPU in by flinging magic across the nether. Enter different combos by pressing and holding the 2 buttons to cast a variety of spells. You have 5 seconds to input a command each round before both players' spells fire at the same time!

Certain spells block others, and many spells alter your Attack/Defense or your opponents Attack/Defense. Spell combos are up to 3 inputs long and are listed in the game.

If you would like to learn more about the different spells, feel free to consult our design sheet which contains more details than the in-game combo listing. Indirect spells can only be blocked by Barrier.

fun game to play with a friend. keeping the spreadsheet open on the side is a must for beginners, haha. it's actually pretty fun to learn while playing, and to find a spell you want to use within the time limit. would be interesting to see more variety in spell interactions, but that's a too much to expect out of a weekend game.

i think it's best summarized as pokemon meets magicka. a solid entry, especially for having local multiplayer which you hardly ever see.

Awesome game! The warlock crushed me, every time. Impossible to win when he has >50 ATK ;) But loosing is fun and it is a nice alternative to streetfighter/fighting games for which I lack the reflexes.

A list of possible moves while you are inputting them could make it a bit more transparent. But still: great job! Love the game.

I have to say that you have an impressive amount of moves and attacks; All visually stunning!

Can't wait to test it out against someone, local co-op or multiplayer is always a huge plus!

Really nice entry, one of the best ones that I have had the pleasure to test this time around.

Very pretty pixel art and a strict interpretation of the theme. A surprising amount of combos, too. Great job you guys! :D

Haha, awesome. Might have been nice if it showed the combo with the name of the casted spell. Cool game!

Don't really understand what to do here (no feedback on my keypresses, game looks like it ignores them). Pity, graphics are cute!

@scorched have you tried setting your keybinds in the main menu?
