Landslide by Coro_yy

[raw]
made by Coro_yy for Ludum Dare 59 (JAM)

A victim was buried underneath a landslide and needs your help. Their oxygen is limited and so is your time.

Use the Detect-O-Meter as a hint system on how close you are.

Close: within 2 tiles around you

Far: 3 to 7 tiles

Very far: 8 or more tiles

Your movements and actions take longer if you encounter an obstacle like tree stumps or rocks, so keep that in mind!

In terms of fun, your game is my favourite on the jam right now. Gameplay loop is just pure enjoyment, like it so much! Wish you have more time to polish it and make it more good-looking.

Interesting mechanic. The timer feels a bit too harsh. If you head in the wrong direction at the start, it’s hard to save the poor guy. It makes me want some upgrades or collectible artifacts that can, at least once, point you toward the best direction to dig. Overall, a great game.

Nice game, a bit of a serious theme but understandable! I wish I could have another hint or a bigger radius for the Detect-O-Meter because right now with the time we have it feels like a game of luck? Other than that I loved the idea, congrats!

Awesome entry. maybe some ticking for the timer would have caused a bit more urgency. but very solid!

Cool idea. Digging feels a litte slow but adds to the suspense. I would have liked to have some kind of an indicator to find a good starting point. If you start in the wrong corner or walk in the wrong way, you basically lost initially.

I like that you left all your controls on the keyboard, so no fast mouse klicking needed. Only buttonsmashing.

Interesting spin on the signal theme. After your thumbnail, I expected something different, but I managed to get the hang of it quite quickly. While trying to make a round about 7 tiles inward from the border, I managed to find most of the people, if I did not end up just out of range and circling in the wrong direction.
The full-screen mode seems a bit bugged. I can still see the title screen underneath the level, in the top-right corner.

strangely enough this isn't the only game i've played about rescuing buried people in this jam. pretty cool to see such serious stuff represented

That was quite fun, took me 2 games to find the best method to find the guy fast ! The mechanics are very simple but still effective :) Waiting for some polish and maybe a background music / ambiance.
