Hot Signals In Your Area by smikevth

[raw]
made by smikevth for Ludum Dare 59 (JAM)

You are Captain Bobby Corwen, tasked with a mission to find and investigate signals in space. Fly your ship (WASD/Left Stick) and use your scanner (Spacebar/Gamepad South button) to track down the sources of the signals and beam them aboard when you're close enough. The color and pitch of the response from the scanner indicates how close you are (green and higher pitch is closer, red lower pitch is farther). Pick up stranded astronauts to add them to your crew and upgrade your ship.

Made in Unity 6. Art made in Gimp. Sound effects made with jsfxr. Music made with beepbox. Font from kenney.nl.

Nice take on the theme! The audio was pretty well done, and was fairly easy to get the hang of tracking the signals. It was a little frustrating that scanning also stopped your ship, especially when the time was getting low, I think it would have been nice if either the ship didn't need to accelerate, or if the scan didn't stop your momentum

It is a nice idea, the 30 sec was a bit short for me.. I had to play it twice to understand the game mechanics but it was interesting. Good job!
