Meerkat Panic! by yoko-san
Meerkat Panic!
Something's up in the bushes!
Did you see that? That suspicious rustling?! Luckily, YOU have been appointed as the guardian of your meerkat colony and can warn your friends of approaching predators!!
HTML5 (web) version available: https://yoko-san.itch.io/meerkat-panic
(Unfortunately, the shadows and particle effects aren't working properly in the web-version. I'll try to fix that after the jam.)

How to play:
- Use the mouse to look around.
- If you notice something suspicious in the bushes,
- use [Q][W][E] or [R]-key to call your friends.
- You maybe need to call them a few times until they are alert (red exclamation mark).
- Use [1][2][3] or [4]-key to announce the type of predator approaching.
The game ends if you fail to fulfill your duties as a supervisor.

I played what seemed like a pretty long while, and the game didn't do that much to change up, or have an ending to reach. The need to cut features for the time limit is a very understandable one! Still good work with what is here.
@nuelijarma thank you for playing :)
@toppervideogames The plan was for the animals to appear faster and faster, eventually several at once.
Unfortunately, I only managed to include a game over condition. Sorry about that!
Congrats on making a game!
Steef, Snake!!!
I'm currently working on a modified version of the game, but it wouldn't be fair to rate that one, since those improvements weren't made during the jam.
Yeah, I’m (unfortunately) aware that the game isn’t very challenging in its current state :-/ I didn’t get a chance to really test it until just before the deadline, so I couldn’t make any more optimizations without risking more game-breaking bugs
Thanks for playing! :)
I decided not to include in-game instructions, but I actually included everything important in the description.
Still, thanks for playing! :)
Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to add a higher difficulty level.
Next time, I'll try harder to finish the Gameloop earlier in the jam.
Yes, unfortunately, the game is currently way too easy and monotonous. I didn't have enough time at the end to fix that without risking more (game-breaking) bugs.
The meerkats should react more slowly if you raise a false alarm before. Next time, you’ll have to call them more often before they respond.
I’ve implemented this in the current version using a simple random integer (Unfortunately, I realized after the jam that this feature is skipped due to a bug...).
It does feel a little easy and slow after a while, but the core idea is charming and I’d love to see it expanded with more difficulty or progression. Great work!
