I stucked lol, love the classic hard rock bgm btw!
Congrats :)
@rum-ham, @oller125 Thanks, definitely something I will work on, especially in future releases
@saering Thank you for the feedback, it really helps and now I know how to best work on this game
Thank you all for playing and your feedback!
The audio works, but sometimes a little "grating" - bfxr sounds are fine, but try pulling them into Audacity or other DAW and tweak them a bit, play with EQ, reverb and delay.
Try something like this on your particle system for enemy explosions, just play with the start speed.

Is there a way to get health back? I haven't figured that out yet. If no, then I think the "game over and start aaaaalll over again method" is a bit harsh. Maybe the player could have spawned in front of the last level played?
I had a good time playing your game
The graphics obviously need a lot of work. I understand that there was no artist to create assets and you just used "programmer art", but even then there are still a lot of things you can do in-engine to improve the visuals and make it more "juicy" (you can look up for that term), like particle effects when shooting, a little bit of screen-shake, post-processing, etc.
One main complain about the gameplay is that you can die out of nowhere and the game resets, instead of restarting you from the same level. The movement also felt a little bit floaty.
But the background song was a banger.
Congrats, keep it up!
As feedback: you could consider showing the shot as an actual projectile that travels through the air. That would make it clearer how and when the player deals or receives damage.
The jumping also feels a bit strange at times. When I jump from a standstill or while just starting to accelerate, I still have air control, but when I jump at full speed, I suddenly have none. I would suggest giving the player some control there as well, so they can still make small corrections mid-air.
Other than that, a lovely little story and a great submission!
@automatonvx Thanks for playing! Yeah, definitely need to add visible bullets, I do see how that can deter from the gameplay. Glad to hear you had fun though, thanks for the feedback.
Aside from that, even if the mechanics are pretty simple, there’s a lot of variety in the different areas. The rocket animation totally caught me by surprise, and there are a bunch of details that show you’re on a really good track.
Really nice work!
