DO THE THING! by Fredrik Andersson

[raw]
made by Fredrik Andersson for Ludum Dare 59 (COMPO)

What is it trying to signal? Did we lose our radio signal? You better hurry up because it looks like we are headed towards a collision!

The game plays like a hot and cold game. Try to interact with things and listen to when the little alien dude gets excited.

There are 2 scenes. The second scene is very crudely built at the last minute of the jam! :P

Controls:

Mouse/Touch

Solution:

!> The first task is to break open the Microwave. Hit it against something with high speed!

!> The second taks is to put the microwave on the center of the platform.

!> The third taks is to put the table upside down on top of the microwave

!> Never put metal in a microwave! Especially not floating metal orbs.

Sorry, I have no idea what the guy is signaling about. Had fun throwing stuff around but in the end a collision was made; well if you have a broken walkie talkie it is a bit of a problem. I like the graphics and humor.

I really love the concept, but I think I'm a little too tired to figure it out. I might try again in the morning. I've just been fiddling around with it for 15 minutes and I feel like I have figured nothing out except that the alien guy really likes the microwave, and that I can smash the microwave door off.

@mdotedot @tolviere Thanks for playing guys!
Well, I can stop worrying about the game being too short. The little guy wants you to build something if that's a useful hint :)

The game is a real treat for the senses—visually, aurally, and in terms of its tactile feel. The alien swears and reacts in such a cute and charismatic way. I’m curious how you pulled that off =) But as for the puzzle gameplay, I almost quit in frustration, hahaha!

Well, I really like it but I'm stumped after 3 objects in and no more happy sounds from my friend :confounded: Really like the game idea, the graphics and audio are great, def had fun!

The animation and sounds are really cute. Like the others I'm not sure what the objective is. I like the concept, just needs a bit more guidance I think.

This game is so much fun. At some point I though the alien just happy that I'm smashing the room with the microwave, or maybe because I fixed it.

Finally a game that captures that moment where Ryan Gosling is having fun tapping on the glass while on the other side is getting increasingly frustrated with him not understanding the instructions :rocket:

This is a really interesting game, it really touches on something very human (the kind of interaction a response with the creature, even if it's as simple as hot and cold) you don't see in games too often. I'm probably going to be thinking about this game long after the Ludum Dare is finished

Enjoyed trying to figure out what the alien wanted. It became frustrating after a while. Checked the spoiler in the end. Overall a fun game concept that could work well with some more polish and levels. Seems like this could be a good mobile game.

What a fun concept  Loved the reactions of the alien. I was able to figure out the first 3 steps, but had to look up the final step. Liked how in the bad ending you see the satellite getting closer in the background and the good ending scene was funny!

Very cute, great sounds and animation. I did not find the gameplay loop very interesting personally, finding it a bit too flail about randomly, but I think it was well-executed and certainly felt like you accomplished what you were going after. as a game jam game I thought this was excellent, well done!

The operation is very simple and clear, with excellent ease of use. In addition, I really like the style and design of this painting. I think it's very creative.
