Im sad that there wasnt more but would definitely keep playing if there was more to this game
I love games that use maps and also having to decode things, so this was just the perfect blend of things that i enjoy.
Great job.
Thanks for playing
- Like the coordinate grid, feels good to be useful
- Visually the room did what it needed to, putting me in the forest setting-wise, very cute
- The story felt kind of directionless up until at least the bear in the cave, the dialogue proceeded slowly and I wished there was a button to skip to the end of incoming transmissions
i also wish there was a way to remove the code tip for the forced responses, and you couldnt input while it makes the error noise. sometimes i would mess up on part of a letter but finish it out, which would reset and input into it again causing another error
Now I’m thinking maybe I should have included some kind of calibration at the start, like in rhythm games.
anyway thanks for playing!
Anyway, good work. This was enjoyable.
it would be cool to expand the narrative in the future, for example, by adding dialogue options.
a great, polished game!
P.S. Bow is such a pickme :D
I’m thinking of releasing a post-jam version where I’ll polish the dialogues into something more complete, with options and different storylines.
And Bow is just like that OWO
Thanks so much for playing!
On the other hand I didn't like the camera solution here - it was following my mouse over time, not being in the needed place straight away. Also I was looking around much and missing a lot of the lor and messages, so I think it would be better to add some sort of approval, that message is read.
Anyway that's an amazing project which should be highly rated! well done
I managed to write the later dialogues a bit better— so you have to confirm them with “K”—and I think it wasn't until then that I finally got a rough idea of how it should all look at its best.
I actually wanted to add an animated telegraph key, but I didn't have time, and I also didn't get around to adding an option to turn off camera smoothing :D
The game does a really good job of pulling you into the atmosphere (at some point I genuinely felt like I was actually sitting somewhere in the woods, working) super cool!
Beautiful and concise game.
But at some point I reeeally wanted to speed up the dialogues 😅
A special thank you. I think I'll now remember how to write K in Morse code for the rest of my life :)
And about the ending:
!>very cool, but I'm disappointed. I was hoping for at least a jumpscare :D
Yeah, I noticed everyone’s talking about speeding up the text, but I was worried it would look unrealistic—like, HOW CAN A PERSON SEND MORSE CODE THAT FAST?
I don’t know how to mark text as a spoiler here, so
**SPOILER**
To be honest, I don’t like horror games, especially screamers, but somehow I originally imagined something creepy like this in my head, so that’s just how it is :D
Thanks for playing!
Really like the art style of this one, with the mix of old log cabin and flashy monitor. I think this idea has potential as part of a larger game but just the morse code dialogue by itself is very slow and I think limits how well you can portray a story.
Some ambient forest sounds would maybe have spruced things up a little, but the general mood of sitting in a wood cabin was transferred well. My main problem was with the story, which felt extremely slow and rather pointless, and the end didn't really have anything to do with the rest of the game. But the length of the game was appropriate and it didn't overstay its welcome :)
Congrats on your well-polished entry!
