NetHacking by DryDiamond

[raw]
made by DryDiamond for Ludum Dare 59 (JAM)

Try to hack a pentagon ! Shoot a packet with left click to corrupt all routers on map. But don't miss or it's game over !

This game was made by: - Hrbdnicolas : Programming, Game Design - KamikazeeSSJ13 : Programming, Game Design - Sid_ahmed : Programming, Game Design - DryDiamond: Assets + Sound Design, Game Design!

This is our first game made for a Ludum Dare. All assets and audio were home-made despite our lack of skills in design, we hope you enjoyed playing our game!

We intended to have several levels with increasing difficulty, but we ran out of time. Instead, we added three “difficulty levels” to reach a router: the farther the router is from the starting point, the more binary skulls there are—and the faster they are.

Neat idea and execution! I like the distinctive aesthetic and the sound design was quite nice. I wish the music didn't start over every time though - I wanted to listen to more of the track but kept losing within like 10 seconds haha. Parts of it were extra tough due to your target being offscreen, but I eventually made it through. Nice work!

The atmosphere was so good. It is a truly original and excellent game.

I liked this one a lot. Good vibe with the graphics and a reasonably unique gameplay mechanic of taking over the thing that you shoot. Only two criticisms I have is that I wish your mouse cursor was visible because I kept accidentally clicking on other parts of the browser, and I wish that the final node in each part was a boss sorta thing with a lot of skulls surrounding it, even after you took over the rest of the system, just so the last shot was actually challenging. It was fun though, and you nailed the theme and the aesthetics.

Cool game, took a second to get the hang of it, i think a small tutorial / how to play at the start would go a long way. Super nice vibe though, good stuff.

I really liked the audio and atmosphere of the game, but I found it difficult because I couldn't see the next capture points, maybe this is a problem in the web version

A cool concept, I found it a bit harsh with the limit to only one shot and either you hit or you fail entirely!
But once I got the hang of it I could go quite fast, but sometimes I knew where some nodes were but when I changed to a new router I wasnt able to see any anymore and had to guess so a badge or something that sticks to the players screen in the direction of signals just out of sight might be helpful or a way to move the camera to look there and be able to estimate when to shoot due to the firewall thingies.
Solid game!

It gave me this funny feeling of being a thief online. The giant skeleton on patrol reminded me of those intimidating teachers who used to walk the school hallways during class. I really liked your feedback sound effects — every time I watched the aurora fly toward the server, it felt genuinely exciting.

That said, the screen felt a little cluttered at times. I wasn’t always sure how many servers I still needed to hack, and because the camera doesn’t move, it was hard for me to tell which servers had already been completed and where they were located.

Good idea, great job. I was expecting different level, with the difficulty increasing

I really liked the background music, it was very immersive. The game itself was also a lot of fun. My only wish is that there were more than one chance, I’d love to have a few extra lives.

Cool. I've played about 15 runs.
Simple but interesting mechanics. I'd love to see the project evolve and add new challenges.

Thanks for game!

In just a few steps, I was able to hack a penagon. It's fun! I hope I don't have any problems 😀

Fun game, I like the gameplay a lot, pretty creative. Good mood and aesthetic. I actually really like the graphics, they are simple and to the point, while also being easy to differentiate between hazard and goal.

Might be a web version issue, but sometimes when I click, it doesn't fire the laser properly (basically, the laser appears really short and makes the sound but doesn't go anywhere).

Also, I know it has been mentioned, but a way to move the screen to see the other targets would be the only thing I see missing.

Short but sweet, fun simple gameplay, connects strongly to the theme. A solid submission! 👏

Like someone else mentioned, it would’ve helped to lock the mouse inside the game window.

Good jam entry. Graphics, Audio, and Mood all awesome. I would have preferred the camera were zoomed out all the way, as there were many times were i could not see where i was supposed to be aiming. Nonetheless, I tried multiple times until i was able to hack all the routers.

I especially liked the way the enemies would encircle the the routers. It felt similar to donkey kong country levels with all the barrels that you use to shoot yourself out of.

Neat little game, ended up playing like 10 levels! If you are planning on add some more to it, I'd love to have something like a scouting shot, something that allowed me to see a little bit further. I think there's potential here.

Really cool atmosphere, I wish the camera was a little more zoomed out but there was some strategy in trying to find the safest route. Good work!

Congrats on your first ldjam entry! Wish I could move camera and there were more levels to it. Also only one attempt to fire ever feels a bit harsh, along with inability to move camera.

Nice work!

![LD_hack.png](///raw/d10/1/z/7319d.png) Took me a little while to figure out what I was meant to be shooting at and how the game worked. First of all I thought I was meant to shoot the blobs when they came by. Once I got it, it was surprisingly fun. I feel like its got a bit of potential, if you couldn't go through the same node more than once, it would add some strategy element.. could make it harder from some sides etc. Anyway I liked the setting, visuals kind of worked for it and the music and sounds also kept the vibe. Nice work
