yAI presents Himari, the Beautiful Super Genius Artificial Intelligence by alaah

Himari can be contacted through Signal (preferably Signal Desktop). Send a message to himari.08 to proceed. The game has an ending indicated by a Thank you for playing message.

Out of all the sketchy games I made, this one is by far one of them.

Privacy policy

This is an Always-Online Live Service AAAA video game so I should disclose how I process data: * I store your Signal user GUID. I don't store your phone number (you should hide it anyway) or even your username. * I associate that GUID with a few variables based on your answers. * Everything gets deleted once you finish the game (which also lets you restart fresh). I will also delete the server and the Signal account a few days after the end of Play+Rate.

This would have been a hell lotta easier if you guys had picked Discord or Telegram or even Matrix as the theme.

!> As well as Godot, Aseprite, Reaper, BFXR, this shader

No actual AI was used aside from the search engine.

Troubleshooting

  • If Himari doesn't respond, the Signal service must have crashed. On the off chance that it happens, message me here or @nairobi on Discord.
  • !> If the client crashes at launch with a TLS handshake error, download and install y.nairobi.ninja's certificate chain (ISRG Root X1). So far I've had this happen on one machine running Windows 11 Enterprise.

I was unsure what I was getting into, but I'm glad I did. That was an awesome chat :D

For anyone attempting to chat with Himari, just like the creator I recommend using signal desktop, even if you prefer to use a phone for chatting normally.

Wow thank you himari the beautiful super genius artificial intelligence for my pink-stained platformer with tulips! I love it!

But for real, this was one of the most unique experiences I've ever had playing a jam game. I felt pretty limited by this theme and struggled to come up with ideas; I never even would've considered using Signal (the instant messaging app) as part of a game. Amazing stuff.

OMG this was the most unique game I've played from this jam by far. Amazing work. I love how it let me pick a random hex colour instead of just what I originally assumed would be a list of predefined colours!

I have never, in the 12 years I've participated in LD seen anything quite like this. I am pretty blown away honestly. Also, it reminded me of this video essay on similar-ish games. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y77hZAmJH4

I think I got softlocked? The last thing Himari said was something about chiptune.

I feel as if I've been spurned by a lover. 5/5

Himari and I are elated about the positive response.

@orangeoceans Once you hop a whole loop around the cavern and seemingly find yourself in a dead end, you have to look for a discrepancy in your surroundings.

Incredible.

I did get the following error in the console a few times when scenes were changing, but it didn't seem to interrupt the game.
```
Weeeell, crud. User error. I was trolling it with most responses, and I told it Linux, but I'm on Windows. So... I think softlocked myself. :( Man, it was just getting to the Godot part! :) But it was already pretty amusing
Phenomenal stuff, and made all the more impressive by being pulled off in just 48 hours.
@ukulelefury Tell her "no". She will give you a py script. Open the script, find the target url and replace `lin` with `win`.
Very clever! I did, in my initial brainstorming on the theme, write "Signal, the messaging app" mostly as a joke ^^ But yeah, this is a great twist on the theme. I really like the idea, kind of breaking traditional "walls" of what the game actually is.
The actual core experience, i.e., a platformer, isn't all that interesting, it's everything around it that is. Makes me wonder where this could be taken: interacting with the chatbot during the game to ask for help, to give it puzzle solutions, etc...; making the experience a longer-term one to be more of a "chat"; involving other players since it *is* a mesaging app that is being used... (Obviously LD time limits exist and maybe the latter is not the kind of game you wanted to make or play anyway.)
Though I really appreciate my playing the game doesn't burn LLM tokens, ironically, the chat bot could probably be more interactive and "interesting" if it *were* an LLM actually twisting knobs that affect the gameplay. But then I also wouldn't be playing the game ^^
WOW, this is genius. When my team and I were brainstorming games, we actually brought up the "Signal" app as a joke, but I never would have thought someone would go all out with that idea. Super well executed and a perfect amount of creepy. Great submission!
I think it's safe to say that this is one of my most unique gaming experiences ever. Your skills and creativity amaze me! I did not even think something like this would be possible. It was almost scary at times xD
I'm still processing what just happened, but this was truly amazing. Thank you for this experience, really well done.
Well that was more than a little surreal. I was hesitant to bother with setting up signal but the other comments convinced me it was worthwhile and I'm glad I did. I think the "dead end" part was a little hard to figure out. I noticed right away the strange hitbox but I wandered around for a while before I figured out where to go. Overall very interesting and I enjoyed the "game within a game" feeling of talking to hikari and then playing the platformer. My biggest complaint is that she didn't know my favorite color: chartreuse.
It's so novel to take the signal as an instant communication method! The design concept is particularly good. It's really amazing to come up with such an idea and implement it in such a short time... I can't imagine what kind of work the developers could produce if they had more time. I'm looking forward to it!
Cool! An awesome idea to actually use signal for a platform :sunglasses:
...and there even was a game for if you are brave enough to open a file... Twice!
Played it till the ending :)
Most innovative interpretation of the theme I've seen, easily. Somehow even though I knew it was all fake, I've never been so antsy about running a file from a jam before! :laughing: it was great, ||when yAI knew the game had been opened, I got a proper spook, and its interactions with the game were so clever! I hate do admit I only didn't finish it because I got stuck at a platforming bit after everything goes grey and it complains it wasn't trained for this. Neither was I, apparently!|| Amazing job.
Incredible as always, and also one of the most innovative and creative approaches to the theme out of all the participants I've seen this time around! I'll be honest, based on the description, I felt it'd be a bit of a straightforward interpretation at first, though that was an awful mistake on my part. Normally, I'd also hesitate to install an entire new messenger for testing an LD game (and I'm afraid this "accessibility" issue will be the main blocker on the game's route to widely recognized magnificence), but thankfully, knowing you left no doubts that the end result would be worth it. :D Well done!
