Gameplay (EN)

A simple and fun Castlevania-style game Use sound waves to change the map — reveal hidden blocks, make dangerous blocks disappear. Explore, solve puzzles, reach the goal. For the "signal" theme, the image that comes to my mind is "sending out sound waves, causing all the elements in the scene to change and interact with each other", which is also a form of signal.

To practice 2D platformer level design, I chose the Castlevania genre for development. You can obtain a total of four abilities, each of which enables you to explore more areas. Exploration... Paving the way... Mechanisms... And clearing paths You might get lost, but fortunately, the map isn't very large, haha! It requires some platformer skills and should be completed within half an hour. Due to my limited development capabilities, I couldn't fully utilize the potential of all abilities in the levels. However, after finishing it, I felt... It was quite fun ; P Welcome to offer criticism and suggestions on my level design!(or anything else!)

Now, I need to go sleep...Zzz

Great level design and very creative abilities. I really enjoyed my playthrough of the entire game <3

Great game. The levels are well done and the graphics of the revealed tiles really sells the mechanic. It got slightly fiddly towards the end, but that might have been my keyboard, because picking the direction of the charged abilities did not always seem to work. But other than that, it was really neat, and even had a bit of light puzzling in it.

Fullscreen button didn't work for me and I couldn't be bothered to download so I played by scrolling the screen when I needed to see more haha. Game was cool, I liked the abilities. I felt like sometimes I just had to pray that I would hit a platform cause I couldn't react in time after revealing it with the ability.

Very clever abilities and level design. Certainly feels like potential for more levels with the abilities. The colours were generally a bit dark, though it did make the interactables pop more. A couple of the puzzle platforming segments were a bit frustrating to me, but everyone has different preferences for those. The checkpoints were always close enough that I could retry them pretty much instantly.

@drsmey thanks for your comments! @nathmate Using the directional keys for this purpose does indeed impose some operational burden. Perhaps using the mouse to activate the skills would be a better option?maybe,haha!

Cool game! Clever idea and nice design. I'm bad at plateformers but i can enjoy it ahah! The sound design is charming and the graphics are good.

Loved it!

Warning about your itch.io page, it sent me to a dead end. Just so you know :)

Good platformer game! The Celeste-like control is very smooth and the puzzles based on mechanics are also amazing. I think these "Wave" mechanics can dig more complex and deeper puzzles, making this game a complete indie precious platformer+puzzle game. :heart:

This was pretty slick for a jam entry. The platforming felt good and the maps were designed well. I really liked the chaining feature of the sound waves on the bells. Once I got the C ability I think I got soft locked though, whenever I press or hold C it just lags the game out and nothing happens, a shame I would have loved to play more because it was quite fun. Good job though!

@pegasys Thank you for your comment! If you have any more bug information regarding the stuck C key, please feel free to let me know. Sometimes on my end, the input fails due to the Chinese input method, but I guess it's not your side's problem.

@jerrywest it was just in the room where you get the C tap ability, there's a mechanism that (I presume) you have to activate with it, but just whenever I try and use it nothing happens and the FPS of the game goes down to like 1. It fixes after a couple seconds, but it yeah, just can't use it.

Fun game! It’s seriously impressive that you managed to make so many levels for a game jam entry. It really makes the whole game feel rich and packed with content. I’m a big fan of this kind of Metroidvania-style puzzle game.

The artstyle is nice, and mixing hidden/dynamic elements with a platformer is an interesting idea. The music is also nicely done, (fits the graphics) and soundeffects are fine. The maps vwere also interesting and intriguing, making use of the game aspects in a well thought-of manner.

I sometimes had issues with the (for me at least) unusual keybinds, and I found myself pressing spacebar too many times. The game embed also seemengly ignores LD's display size restriction (thus the scrollbars).

Maybe i'd add some more particle effects, animations and post-processing to spice things up.

This is a very nice little platformer. I made it to the end! I really like these kind of jam games that are both unique (the various moves), easy to play, fun, short and completable.

Great job on the platformer. The controls felt super slippery though, made it way to easy to accidentally walk off the edge of a skinny platform.

Love the Castlevania-inspired aesthetic and gameplay. Contrary to what some others have said, I actually liked the 'slipperiness' of the player-- it adds to the fluid feel of the gameplay. The abilities to 'see' blocks and also to temporarily enable them was a really clever concept that I had fun playing around with.

I do wish we could customize the controls a bit-- us westerners are used to spacebar being jump, and I kept finding myself pressing it (which evidently puts the game in slow motion?). Also I did notice a bug where sometimes upon entering a room you're not able to shoot the directional ray downwards, even though you're required to do so to progress.

Overall a very fun entry with some interesting mechanics. Love the retro vibe and great use of the theme too. Congrats!!

I love this art, particularly how well you presented the invisible platforms and soundwaves. Interesting mechanics with purposeful level design. I could see where things required skills I didn't have yet and come back to them with fresh eyes. That's always a super satisfying feeling. Great work on this.

An excellent metroidvania. Lovely visuals and great gameplay. Some sections are genuinely challenging, but the overall balance feels solid. The only thing I missed was a volume/settings option - otherwise, fantastic work.

I think this design is quite interesting! It's not easy to create such a scene and art in such a short time. However, when I first started, I felt that the background music was a bit out of place? The scene was clearly in such a dark color scheme, but the music was so cheerful.
However, it also added some conflict, and it was actually quite funny, haha!
