Notes from Sarah:
This is one of my favourite game jam games ever! I made all the art over the weekend and I spent almost a whole day working on the cute decorations! I'm not the best artist, I don't even call myself an artist, I'm 100% a coder (: But I am improving every jam! You should see the graphics from my first jam xD
Joel and I did everything together, working side by side and it was an ambitious idea but we got it done, art and everything! There's still an elusive bug that I can't solve but the game still functions technically (:

Thanks for playing!
IMPORTANT
I JUST noticed that Ms.BeeHive has a TYPO in the screenshot... just don't mind that.
She is a bee, but she is not a spelling bee!

I could really see this being a mobile game that would do well. Well done!
Great game! :D
It's cozy, addictive, cute and easy to play! I need to test other games but this one sucked my time like it was nothing! Great job to the team! ♥
I know idle games profit from small increments but having less upgrades that are more immediately impactful would have been nice. I had a problem with the path game, that if there was a loop on the path it would mark everything ahead of me as green if that makes sense? That made it so that I could not always gets a good score... But the game came up often enough that it was not that bad!
Again kudos for the amount of stuff that is here from the mini-games and different plants to all the cure art! And I could even color my walls that is some serious dedication! The radial color wheel was such a nice touch!
Oh and us bees must stick together! :bee:
Adorable art-style, really cute management/incremental game. Overall, I really REALLY liked it! Some feedbacks/thoughts:
- The game felt a little frictionless in terms of spending (you start very soon making SO MUCH MONEY that a lot of the upgrades/mechanics kind of stop making sense, like the upgrade reducing the cost of plants and pots) and decision-making (bigger pot -> always better, most expensive/advanced plant -> always better, it seems), so you're kind of always just selling and mass-replanting the newest plant for each type of pot.
- It's very hard to make good incremental games actually!! You did great, it's a very fun "numbers go up" game, very satisfying!
- You've managed to fit SO MUCH inside the game in just two days! It's really pretty and really polished! (Although my PC was STRUGGLING when I stopped playing, especially when I would release a bee swarm for like a minute with like 50 bees in it)
- The art style is lovely and the mechanics are smartly designed. The minigames kind of "get in the way" of the management flow a little, but they're also pretty welcome distractions, so... I'm a little torn but I think I like them overall! The path-following minigame did feel a little frustrating because the game kind of highlights whole sections of it, and they you can't earn "precision %" off of that section no matter if you follow it or not, and that makes some path kind of "unwinnable" because of their layout.
- The tutorial messages felt very intrusive and I had no way to turn them off :'< I don't like tutorials, so I wish I had a way to disable her, even though her character design is GORGEOUS.
Great work, EXTREMELY impressive! I hope you had fun, because I did playing your game. Best of luck for your future jams!
I found myself losing track of time just clicking flowers and watching the money roll in. Great job on this one!
@universeflow @asieke @pokeydem @celiolymph @5n4k3 @lemonchicken47 @recursor
@crispypear I had wanted to get a 'Sell' or 'Buy' mode in that would allow placing/selling multiple in one go but I ran out of time sadly! I also meant to add a settings toggle for Ms.BeeHive for anyone who no longer needed her tips but for now we can see her as a very persistent bee (:
@sirlich Recolouring the walls somehow felt like a very important feature to me because I absolutely couldn't decide what colour the walls should be but ultimately picked green anyway xD I found the time by not sleeping and taking no breaks (I'm paying for it today haha)
@block97 wow! very nice swarm!!
@rangoiv I'm not sure if you realized but you could buy a medium pot in place of a small pot without having to sell it! And in terms of balancing, I never trust game jammers to play for so long so I typically force them right into the action. But I agree, a slower start might be nicer (:
@vincenthuet HoneyMoney is what I should call the currency I think xD
@domenixius We did struggle with the pathing on the minigame and it was one of the things we ran out of time to finish tweaking, but since it was quick and happened often we let it bee (: The mini game suffered so we could paint the walls!!
@fae-pdf Thanks for all the thoughts! I had some similar ones as well but we leaned toward the side of making it (super) easy for the jammers to get more enjoyment out of a short play of it (: I'm thinking about adding a post jam, more balanced version too!
The game is also NOT optimized in any way, so it does struggle a wee bit on my machine as well haha. In allll my game jam games I had some little popup with hints to help anyone who may be struggling, but I almost always remember to add a button to turn it off! This time I forgot and near the end when I realized, I thought well at least she is pretty!
And thanks again for the detailed feedback!!
@jpat This was one of my most ambitious jams yet polish (and art) wise, since we're on our last few I went hard this jam haha!
@gamcho She is a Canadian Bee, so she is very nice!
Thanks again for trying out our game! This is somewhere around my 22nd+ Ludum Dare (including my entries on old accounts, but I lost track of them - 32 was my first) and every jam I try to make something a little better than last time. I barely slept or ate food this weekend to get things done! BUT IT WAS WORTH IT <3
It really feels like a lot of work went into it
The gameplay loop is effective, and the mini-games are simple but fun. I’d like to say that the graphics are particularly warm and cheerful; you can tell a lot of time and love have been spent on them <3
And I spent about half my time (at least) working on the art <3
@msipp27 unfortuntately thats still a bug we haven't been able to track down. it sometimes freezes on the first open, but restarting the game seems to fix it! (there's a save file so no progress is lost)
probably the attention demanding incremental game i've played?
@theg It's one of the most unoptimized game jam games I've ever made haha. The sprites are a total mess from me just hand drawing in whatever size felt good atm, and a mix of way too much happening every frame. But we just ran out of time to clean that all up (: Hopefully no machines explode from the power of the bees
At first I didn't find the first mini-game. Apparently I discarded the text balloons of these bees as not important, haha.
The second mini game I only found much later even. They are cute mini games, but the honey collecting is not very challenging, and sometimes I only had to collect 6, because maybe the new ones spawned right under me? I liked the path following better (maybe that is where this game connects to the theme?). Sometimes tough, I ended up at the goal without wanting to, because the designated path was too close to it.
In sidebar show, the arrows to change between tabs are very small. Also, I would have liked to be able to put more pots or flowers down at the same time, especially when I just bought a new table. Now I have to back to the shop every time.
Nice selection of music for the game! Very chillll. And I really like the colorful art :heart:
As you mentioned above, sometimes the game freezes, but luckily it remembers my progress after refreshing :smile: :thumbsup: I played your game for quite long, like an hour or so!
Congrats on your great entry :clap:

It's also worth noting just how much you guys have managed to do in just three days. A whole shop management game, to be honest! Complete with shop customization and decoration?? Several types of flowers... AND mini-games? That's impressive!
Mini-games were a bit of a learning curve (the path specifically) but I got adjusted soon and they are not too hard or complicated or anything. The bee path is always different, which keeps it fresh, and the honey collecting is nice and easy :3
It's an adorable cozy game with clicker and light management elements, and honestly with some more polish and work could be sold on Steam as a chill game for cozy community! <3

but over all very impressed by the amount of features in the game like being able to color the walls/floor. adore the cute bees :3
Great job, team!
Really cozy and incredibly polished experience!
It really turned out to be a very well-made game. I can't even imagine the work that went into it. Unlike many games in this style, the rewards are generous, and we can level up and upgrade quickly. This helps with the feeling that we're doing well.
And really, the art is improving a lot!
Congratulations to the team!
And for everyone who played for a while, that means so much to hear!! We really appreciate all the time spent! (:
@quitewavy @caer My theme connection was initially that bees use bee signals to find flowers (like the minigame) and then it sorta morphed into a whole new, bigger game idea!
@papaver Due to spending so much time on making the shop paintable, the minigames suffered a little and didn't get as much love, so they were simple and meant to be really easy (:
@kanity Thanks for the kind words <3 We put our full 100% effort all weekend into this game, I've only just felt recovered this past week!
@goodwayman Thanks a lot! I love how your plant shop turned out (:
@blues I actually meant to get some unlocking of upgrades added in but it completely slipped my mind until...now!
@braktheman I wish I was able to optimize (at all) but time constraints meant every little bee is gonna eat up memory haha, totally worth it for the beees
@bumble Thank you so much!
@euler-moises This is probably our biggest and most polished Ludum Dare entry yet! Thanks for playing (:
@sbeif Balancing for the game jam meant we made everything very quick, just so if someone wanted to play for only 5-10 minutes they could still get a feel for progression and unlocking some things (: I also struggled with the store design so expanding it was necessary at times but mostly it worked collapsed to the side! And the theme did end up being very loosely applied because the minigame WAS the game inititally.
But after thinking about the idea and having bee signals to unlock flowers felt great but that made me want to build a whole plant shop and thus the theme got a bit lost in translation. In the end we just loved the idea and direction of the game so much, we let the theme take the hit (:
@anete-ainjarv I stayed up until 5am+ to finish MsBeeHive after working all day and she was 10000% worth the effort! I wasn't even sure she would be on screen much so after spending so many hours drawing her, she became the main mascot (:
@lereveur The bees miss you..That's what they said anyway! Thanks for playing!!
@alexandr-gerya I'm so glad you spent some time decorating! It was an unplanned extra idea near the end of the jam and I'm very glad I went for it (:
@nkvz @soul-grinder @matt2728 @railnof @hhch Thanks for playing!
And to anyone else who rated or played the game, thanks for trying it out. And HAVE A GREAT TIME UNTIL NEXT LUDUM DARE!
Tons of other stuff to praise here...I can't believe how much you got in! Coloring? All the different kinds of pots? A real, guided tutorial! Just stellar work.
@nuclme @icebell
Thanks so much for playing!
