Call For Help by bling

[raw]
made by bling for Ludum Dare 59 (JAM)

Pick a detected signal point (WASD to move, Enter to start calling), then wait for the connection to go through. Once you're connected, start transmitting your distress signal immediately—type as much as you can to gather supplies.

选择当前探测到的信号源(WASD 选择,按 Enter 开始呼叫),然后等待通讯的建立。一旦连接成功,请立刻发送求救信号——尽可能多地敲键盘来争取补给。

Watch out! If you start typing too soon, you'll break the connection! BTW, your transmission power is limited!

注意!通讯器十分不稳定,如果键盘敲得太早,会中断连接!而你用于通讯的电量有限!

As you gain more supplies, more signal points will become available. But be aware—signals might get unstable and prone to interference. Stay sharp and learn to tell a real connection from a fake one.

随着你获得更多物资,有更多地点会变得可探索。但要小心——信号可能更加不稳定且容易受干扰。保持敏锐,学会分辨真正的连接和虚假的连接。 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg 4.jpg 5.jpg 6.jpg

I like the idea here, one big improvement if you ever wanted to make this into a full game, it would be fun if there were predefined messages to type out, or even dialogue that has to be typed within a time limit/avoid errors. Like the atmosphere of being stuck alone in a bunker, the art and sound really helped with that.

I really liked this game. The atmosphere and setting come through entirely via the screen and the meaning of the messages you write, which is very cool.

I was not sure if the fuel I collect can be used to recharge the computer. If not, that could be a nice addition.

I also liked that no matter what keys I press, the message generates automatically, and it is not a typing game 😄

@indigowolf Thanks! Making it into a typing game sounds like a great idea! The current gameplay is indeed a bit too simple.

@nadia-pixel Thank you. Fuel increases power; the increase in value comes first, and then the visual effect appears.Watch out your keyboard haha

I agree with other comments- gameplay lacks some core thing for the player to do like typing or smth else

Hey, I was having fun! I did find the gameplay loop simple, but it was very enjoyable regardless. My first run I only managed to get to medium signals, then the second run I got to the hard signals very quick and got this score. It never did trick me, though the audio cues were more tricky than any of the visual text or buttons lighting up. Funny messages too. Some more choice involved would be an improvement, but good work all around!

It seems I didn’t fully understand the gameplay. In my first attempt, when I tried to choose where to send the signal, my score was 38. In the second attempt, when I didn’t choose anything and just pressed Enter, the score was 46. Maybe there were some hints in the game about how to find more useful things, but unfortunately I didn’t notice them![chrome_cedSAZVpIz.png](///raw/5cc/76/z/72963.png)![chrome_K53ey6LQ4v.png](///raw/5cc/76/z/72964.png)

Very simple game loop but engaging overall. I think people with high end keyboards have a big advantage here as the can press way more buttons simultaneously than people with standard keyboards! We had the same problem with our game (rhythm game) where we created everything with 8 buttons in mind and then realized that most keyboards can't do more than 6 at the same time so we had to change it. In our game this created impossible situations, here it just makes it way more difficult depending on the keyboard

Although right now the keyboard spamming gameplay is definitely fun, I feel like there could be a hard mode where you have to type out the coordinates and the specific supplies based on what is available on each signal point, as right now I could just use the same signal point for food and the power, which I doubt in an apocalyptic scenario will have infinite amounts of them all the time.

It's a fun game. I wasn't quite sure what to do, but I figured it out later.

By the way, I also made some kind of sonar this time xD

This is delightfully funny. I love how generous everyone is in their bunkers. The tease of the computer flickering to fake out the player is nice and kept me enticed. I do wish maybe there were a few words to type instead of just random key presses, but that did make it pretty funny.
