An interactive fiction, or a short story about recognising the certain signals. Made in Twine.

You wake up and this day is just perfect. You should probably get outside and enjoy spring in the park. Or maybe you have some other plans? No matter what, you'll probably have to deal with this annoying beeping first...

Hi there, I got two different endings. Nice entry. You made me discover Twine. Out of curiosity, does it allow adding content with the dialogue? I must admit I had hard time staying in the game and reading 'til the end without graphic and sound content.

@flowerfield-games hi! I understand that text-based games are not everyone's cup of tea, so I really appreciate you giving it a try <3

yes, you can add graphic and audio, but I wanted to create a solely text-based game partly as a challenge for myself and partly because of limited time :) it is also my first Twine game, so I spent the majority of my time learning about variables and actually writing haha.

p.s. there is actually one graphic piece in the game that you can see if you reach the "true" ending!

I got all endings, starting with the bed one! Nice writing job, a little ambient music might be a plus

Short but self-contained story. Laughed a couple of times, read a poem mentioned (ok, half a poem, it's long), got all endings, enjoyed every one of them! Simple, but nice entry!

Cool. Did not expect the ending. Took quite a few rounds and some brute forcing to pass the test. You hid some of the answers well. The system should have just given me a pass since the study material was barely readable :)

Cool game with interesting interaction with certain words instead of clicking buttons only. But if it will be better with animations and some background graphs? Any way it is a great work

The interpretation and application of the theme are spot on. The game concept design is great, the art style is unique, and it’s a very innovative game. Five-star praise! We look forward to your coming to play our games, thank you

The image that goes along with the fourth ending was nicely evocative! I enjoyed trying out the different endings, and the unstated implications. Nice work!

The plot is pretty interesting! For a text-based game, adding some UI sound effects and background music would definitely make it more engaging for me. That said, the story itself is really great.

@kobato-games thank you for playing <3
haha they are hidden like that so that you could grasp the whole of a story if you aim to pass the test :)
the system is a bit broken, you're right :D

@averycheun9 thank you! I believe it could be better with some graphics, but it was some kind of a challenge for myself to make a game without them :) but i'll probably add some music and effects to a post-jam version!

@cat-value thanks! i wonder what art style you're talking about as 99% of the game is plain text :)

@aquaaa thank you! I definitely want to add some extra effects to a post jam version. It was my first time making a game with Twine, so I didn;t have enough time to work on that :)

Nice text based game, good writing and endings. Definitely wish it had some audio to set the atmosphere, but was enjoyable as is.

I managed to get 3 endings, but I couldn't to get all 5/5 questions correct even with brute force (probably missing the partner one).

Overall some decent writing in there, manages to build a world with only a few sentences. I think it needs a little bit of imagery, if you had simple a drawing of the room and you would click on each element to interact with it instead of choosing a text option it would elevate the game. Adding some ambient music would also have been a low-hanging fruit to set the vibes.

Through being dyslexic I still enjoyed the writing of this cute little game, If there was audio it would be like a cherry on top. Overall Good job :)

@exofrenon thank you! the partner hint (spoiler here) can be found at the back of the photo: it might be a bit trickier to find :)
i thought about adding some imagery but decided to limit it as much as possible (there is one art piece you get with the "true" ending only), as my challenge for this LD was to create a text game. clicking on the elements is probably another genre :) but ambient music is a great idea!

Cute! Neat interpretation of "signal" and a futurustic training twist around it. I got all four endings -- the three "bad" ones reminded me a bit of one of the "bad" endings of Violet by Jeremy Freese, where you try to force the narrator/game to break down (:

Loved this. One of the few games I've played this jam where I really don't have any notes. You had a vision and pulled it off wonderfully. I got the true ending and really enjoyed the story, great work!

I agree with other testers. Neat idea. I had fun playing and exploring the game. With some audio and better visuals, you would bring this on another level. Definitly a good entry for this LD.

Nice and straightforward text adventure! I managed to get all four endings without too much difficulty, felt like the options provided were interesting and I was able to figure out what was needed to accomplish the different endings. I did enjoy some of the humor in the writing. Nice job!
