nervous climb by daniel
deliver a signal from a pain receptor to the brain after a person stubs their toe
play on itch.io
a straight forward third person platformer climber up to the top. ran out of time for much level design or gameplay, but happy with working with some new systems and learning some new tools. it has multiplayer for mirroring players, but no multiplayer gameplay. there are a couple hidden checkpoints, you can go back to the last one with f1.
wasd+mouse movement, click if mouse not focused
space to jump
E to wave, R to change colour
shift to dash (after powerup)

Nice work!
I enjoyed the gameplay but it was a tad too difficult for me. I fell down to the bottom so many times, haha! I would have appreciated if there were some checkpoints along the way, or big platforms you could aim for when falling down.
The level design was great and once you got a bit higher it was very exiting. Falling down was always inevitable for me though . I think you did a great job with the game and the hard core platforming was exiting! I'm just not that good at it, I'm afraid.
The visual design of everything was splendid, and your color choices are great.
Overall this was a super solid platformer. Reminded me of games like Getting over it with Bennett Foddy, Jump King, Chained Together, etc. The movement, jumping and dashing all felt tight. Very cute character design too.
This could potentially become a full time release, but the market is so saturated that I think it should rely on the art style to differentiate it from competitors. Good job overall!
The character's style is absolutely adorable, and the colors for the R switch are perfectly chosen. For a jumping game, the controls are incredibly user-friendly! Movement and jumping are just right—not too responsive, not too clunky. I really enjoy the feel of controlling the character to jump (it even has a bouncy, bouncy feel! And you can even wave your little hands!)! I just don't know if there are save points later on; sometimes accidentally falling and having to start over is a bit frustrating (it prevents me from continuing). I really like the concept! I also love the opening animation; the chromatic aberration effect makes it feel like watching an educational documentary. Although there's no tutorial, I can understand what role I'm playing and that the task is climbing!
