Traffic Control Publican by Istaera

[raw]
made by Istaera for Ludum Dare 59 (JAM)

Everyone knows that you run the luckiest pub in town. No matter how drunk your patrons get, somehow they always make it home safely. Little do they know that you've tapped into the traffic control signal. pageImage.png

Your aim is to get the drink-drivers home safely without too many incidents. Clear a safe path for each driver to get home. Let the paramedics and firemen through when necessary. Avoid the police.

How to play

Click "Menu" then "Drive on the Right" if that is what you are used to. It really helps.

Controls

  • Click on an individual traffic light (i.e. one direction in an intersection) to toggle the light between green and red.
  • Click the middle of an intersection to toggle between locked and unlocked. Locked intersections do not change automatically, but angry drivers ignore lights if left waiting for too long.

Car behaviour

  • Ordinary cars follow road rules and try to reach their destination. They will try to avoid crashes.
  • Drunk cars drive erratically, do not try to avoid other cars, and will ignore traffic lights.
  • Emergency services (police, fire, ambulance) go through traffic lights and mostly avoid crashing.
  • Cars of a particular colour will try to get home to the corresponding coloured house.
  • Sometimes cars will attempt to pick up a late night snack on their way home.

There is no web version. I can'T rate it because I don't download anything. There aren't even screenshots or videos. Sorry.

nice game! it reminded me of one of the gta v missions where you control traffic lights from a top-down view. here it feels more relaxed though, and the music adds a fun vibe. well done!

Very fun game, but I'm sorry to say that this page is wrong. I definitely don't run the luckiest pub in town and 99.9% of my patrons crash or succumb to deadly illness soon after visiting my pub.

deceptively simple, but difficult to master. Can become complete chaos when too many cars are around. Was fun.

Interesting design, The operation of this game is beyond my ability. However, drunk driving is definitely better dealt with by having the offender taken into custody by the police.
Very catchy music! The signal sound blends perfectly into it.

What a creative concept! The game is very chaotic, which I assume was the intention. Slowly building out the level to add complexity was a great idea, but I still think that the early-game could use some difficulty adjustments. Even something as simple as guiding two drunk drivers home in a row is exceptionally difficult with the amount of traffic at that point in the game.

Seeing this art reminded me of GTA. Hmm, who knows maybe your game will grow into something big! But overall, it was fun. I think I saw something similar on Google Play, and I liked it.

Nice concept, but very difficult! Those drunk drivers are absolute menaces lol. The honest citizen may not like waiting at a red light but it's safer than sharing the road with that drunk guy.

I wish I had a way to toggle horizontal, vertical, or all-red at an intersection a little bit more easily than clicking on each individual light.
