...all the corn aside, we wanted to do a down to earth, minimalistic yet solid experience. This is essentially a non-pacman "Maze Chase" game, with a different objective from "visit every square of the maze", akin to what could be found on arcade or 80s home computers.

CONTROLS: Arrow keys / D-Pad: Move Any key other than that: confirm in menus

Also, this was made during Omsky Ludum Dare IRL gathering. Read up here!

Power player tips and tricks: - Extra lives are granted every 5000 points - When plugging a socket, bonus points are awarded for how short the cable is - Every level has 8 bonus items in it, each granting more points, up to 2000 for the Jewel - With every loop(!) the game speeds up and every score gain increases by 200 a pop!

My own highscore was "338150 +6", try to beat it!

You really nailed the mood on this one. I enjoyed the plug mechanic, feels like I was moving with purpose. The difficulty ramp was quite steep, like comparing the difficulty of level 1 to 2 felt like a big jump. I think it would be nice to have levels to learn about each enemy and after that start combining them. But once I got past that second level and understood each enemy I had a lot of fun, the music is great, the vibe is great, it feels good to play. Well done!

Aw between the music, the sprites, SFX and enemy movements you absolutely nailed the Arcade vibes for this one! Also triple points for using a Lynx! Absolutely adorable!

I did struggle to get past Level 2 but that is most likely because of my skill issue, but outside of that I really enjoyed playing this. Amazing job!!

Love the enemies behaviour so even I can complete a level in the game. Art and music are cool as usual.

Well made game but to me it was just a little boring. Too similar to pacman in my opinion.

@verttixpertti sorry you feel that way! We've made sure the enemies and objective work completely differently, but I guess you can't make a maze chase game and not have it be associated with Pacman. Just for reference, may I ask how far did you make it in the game?

Love it! I'm old enough to remember when this was state of the art. Loved the retro feel and audio. Very challenging too.

@cardboard-box I think 4th level maybe. And yeah the nature of the game just wasn't really for me but I'm sure others will find it more fun

Love the style and feel, the sprites are adorable. Music and sounds are on point.

A bit too hard to my liking though. Like previous commenters said, on the 2nd level game introduces all of those different enemies at once, without giving you a room to explore their behaviours in a more controlled manner. Or maybe I just need to git gud.

I enjoyed the game nonetheless, a solid entry!

What fun! Very nostalgic not-pacman game. Love the retro aesthetic, and the music and sound effects were very polished. It was quite challenging (I died lots), but a lot of fun.

Cute game I think the style is on point!

like many others I got stuck on level 2 and I couldn't complete it,
unfortunately it seems like sometimes enemies either trap you and in between you and it's somewhat unpredictable or for the worm type it sometimes picked paths that were dead ends and I couldn't do anything to dodge it

I would love to play a version of this game that makes the difficulty a little more manageable

@tetracold I'm preparing a post-jam version with some tweaks for Newgrounds, including restricting some enemy spawns to post-loop only. (achievements and a leaderboard, too!)

For now, I have a few hints:

- Snake enemies dislike doing U-turns and are generally stuck to their moving direction. If they go right, you go left. They also never target you specifically, just a square somewhere near you, so they can even miss you point blank.
- You can bait the spike enemies into attacking and missing you.
- Level 3 features a lot of snake enemies. The left-right rule I mentined before works wonders here, simlply check where they are going and go the other way.
- On level 4 you're going to encounter a pair of enemies that like to box you in. In general, you can visually split the level into 3 parts (left wing, center, right wing) and don't be in the part as they are.

@cardboard-box I replayed the game with the hints in mind and it definitely helped a lot, I also think the newgrounds version has a lot better difficulty balance in general, really liked it :)

I really like how this feels like a 80s game. But it feels too similar to pacman.

Amazing game! It really feels like a finished game, that's only the case of very few jam games. The graphics and audio are amazing! It is also very fun!

Well done!

I really enjoyed the gameplay, and the overall artstyle of an old 80s game. Had a lot of fun going through the levels and facing different enemies! Good job on the game :)

Fun game! I spent way too much time on the 3rd level figuring out how to get the cables to their sockets without overlapping each other (until I figured out that they can overlap..).
Cute take on pacman!
