The Abyss by TureGrappa

[raw]
made by TureGrappa for Ludum Dare 59 (JAM)

Hi everyone, this is my sixth Ludum Dare. It’s incredible! Here I had the chance to try and experiment with something new!

The Abyss is a game where you are a submarine exploring underwater tunnels to find a signal. With the radar, you can discover the path and locate the signal.

I hope you enjoy it and give me lots of feedback.

Instruction

WASD or arrow keys for movement Space Bar for sonar ping

Surprisingly challenging and fun for such a simple game. You should put some controls on your post. I was pretty confused until I tried pressing spacebar

Cool, it reminds of old games on the phone. In general, the idea is not bad, it could be greatly expanded by adding more complex controls related to physics, adding possibly weapons and all that stuff

Short, sweet and simple. My first run took 46 seconds and the next 23 seconds. I do appreciate that you didn't arbitrarily make the game longer just for the sake of it, so this is a strength in my view.

It's an excellent implementation of the theme and everything is really nicely polished. The sound fits with the artstyle perfectly and I'm not sure I actually have anything to critique!

Thanks!

It looks really good. I even got a bit stressed when I realized the sonar pulse is dangerous for me. It’s a shame there’s only one level!

The game is quite interesting and provides a good challenge for the player. It’s great that a new level is generated each time.It might be worth improving the interaction with enemies so that players can come up with strategies to outsmart or avoid them. Maybe I missed something and this is already possible - in any case, it’s a good game!

The game really created the feeling of tension. I was desperate and started panic when I lost half of my ship's integrity and a false signal is tracing me. I almost gave up but I gathered my courage and kept going. And I finally reached the goal.
The game is too short. But it provided a very short and trilling experience!

I nailed it! Hahaha! What an interesting and tense game! The mechanism is simple but it really works!
Welcome to play our game!

Great sonar implementing!
But I wish we would have some energy mechanic so we will not use our sonar that much and would really think before using it
