Power’s out!

The whole city is going feral. And you? You’re not here to help.

Drive your car through the blacked-out streets, hunt down every crash, crime, riot, cat in the tree, and glorious disaster you can find, and snap the juiciest pictures before anyone else does. Everyone lost signal on their phone, so once you’ve got the shot, you’ll need to track down the helicopter circling above the city and upload your pictures before it’s gone at the end of the day.

No electricity, no rules, just pure chaos and profit.

A game made by Az-steak and Hoolop

Controls:

  • WASD/ZQSD to drive
  • Space to handbrake
  • Left-mouse to take photos

The idea is fun on paper, but the execution is a bit non-intuitivive. You need to take photos of different accidents and send it to the helicopter, being nearby. And you can only send it once, if the combined price for your photos is less than necessary - you lose. So if you somehow stumbled upon the helicopter by driving through the mission - it's better to avoid it. But if you really need to find it - the helicopter may fly over the buildings and it would be hard for you to set the stable connection.

The graphics is all right, but looks like just some asset store stuff. If not - it's rather an achievement on it's own.

I didn't get the reason why you need to make picture. but besides that i like the art style. the driving steering could use some work.

Pretty fun game, the car control is really nice once you get the hang of it. Navigating the city feels cool & rewarding. Difficulty is a bit hard though, finding the Helicopter can be really tough if not lucky. Maybe knowing the distance of each event would be a nice touch to better take decisions too!
Very cool project & visuals, good job team!

Catching up to the heli to upload can be quite tricky, but overall an interesting take on the theme :)

I didn't really understand what to do in the game. The car sometimes seems very heavy for such a city.

Fairly polished entry! The idea was well executed on and interesting. The controls were a bit difficult, especially on MnK. Vehicle could be a bit easier to control.

I'm not actually sure how I was supposed to get money, I took pictures of different things and then when I found the helicopter it said I got $0.

I didn’t quite understand what the main goal of the game is.

Thanks for everyone's reviews ! That's weird @braeden, you should be getting money once you upload the photos. Maybe it's a bug we haven't encountered yet. I'll be looking into that if I find the time to do so.

The graphics are awesome and driving is a lot of fun especially when drifting using the handbreak. Unfortunately when you crash into something it feels like being glued with the object you collided with which takes away a lot of the momentum of the game.

The idea of taking pictures and sending them via the helicopter is great, but navigating through the city to find the next accident and afterwards finding the helicopter is quite hard.

Very polished though. Had fun playing it.

Cool gameplay loop and implementation! Controls and goals made sense to me, but I think a bit of tweaking to make the movement feel more arcade-y could work really well.
