Signal of the Dead by exofrenon
Signals of the Dead is a Vampire Survivors-like in which your weapons are transmitters signaling waves at specific frequencies that damage zombie brains. You play as a scavenger in a deserted town, cobbling together weird signal gear to keep the hordes at bay.
Rules: - The game features an auto-attack system, where the player will attack at fixed time intervals. - Defeating an enemy drops XP that has to be picked up to level up and improve your gear. - At each level up you get 3 random options to choose from, which can be passives or weapons that stack together. - The game at the moment has 3 weapons, with each one having a different area of attack, and a few passives skills - Defeat waves of enemies to get the highest score possible or until you finish the game (10 waves in total, around 5 minutes to finish it)
Controls: - Arrow keys ↑, ↓, ←, → to move - Enter ⏎ to select option at level up - Alt+F4 to exit
This a solo entry where I did everything on my own. No AI or even publicly available assets were used (excluding the water tiles because I was in a hurry to fill the map before the deadline :stuckouttongueclosedeyes:).
* Update (23/04)*: There was a bug with the aspect ratio in the embedded player of the original release (stretching it to portrait mode for some reason), I reuploaded with a 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio and a few very minor bug fixes.

Edit: Finally fixed, now it is widescreen both in the webgl and windows builds.
Great game! It’s a shame the progress resets after 5 minutes — I’m sure I could’ve lasted longer :D
The character’s inertia was a bit frustrating at times — it sometimes caused me to stop or start moving too late. Also, the initial weapon fire rate feels a bit too low. A few times I got hit because I expected to attack, but the cooldown was too long.
Overall though, it was really fun — I had a great time and would happily play a sequel.
Well, the player is supposed to be tramsitting signals around him in a fixed interval, I thought this much was at least clear from the description, the game's title and the in-game graphics of the attacks. Also, I don't even mention controller input in my manual, I don't know why you would believe that it was "clearly" meant to be played with a controller when I specifically only mention keyboard. I don't even know if it works with a controller
Other than that, yeah I agree, this should have been an endless kind of game, but unfortunately I run out of time and I couldn't implement it, so the game ends after the last wave (10 waves of 30 seconds each, so at 5 minutes)
It came across as a controller game when none of the UI could be clicked on with the mouse and WASD didn't work for movement. Arrow keys haven't been the standard for movement in PC games for nearly 3 decades. Good news is, aside from the diagonal lock, it works flawlessly on controller.
