Laser Signals by Le Don
Laser Signals is a space shoot 'em up inspired by games like Ikaruga. Lasers with the same colour as you ship don't hurt you, but they also don't hurt your enemies.

Laser Signals was made for Ludum Dare 59 with the theme
SIGNALS
using Godot 4 and bfxr.net/ for the soundeffects.
The game is playable using the itch.io link below for the web- or windows version.

I love the mechanic tho. Would also love it enemies of different colors could hit and destroy each other.
If I had to pass along one criticism, I really wish there were SFX for enemy shots and for absorbing bullets. The lack of sound effects from enemies firing and from absorbing bullets makes the game feel a bit too quiet, and it would really benefit from that feedback.
Otherwise I thought the sprites were effective and the scrolling felt nice. I also think you could improve the visuals quite a bit without too much effort by adding some parallax, like a few star layers moving at different speeds, maybe even with a bit of twinkling.
If I had to mention one thing, I think maybe making the player die in one hit is a bit too punishing sometimes. The checkpoints definitely help and are appreciated, but there were moments where it felt hard to actually fight enemies instead of just focusing on dodging everything.
Great work overall, keep it up! :space_invader:
