Description

Join your fellow birdmates on a risky journey through bad radio signals, evil goshawks an dangerous cargoplanes. Your Mission is to find the isles of wellness, which will lead you to the glorious south, the final destination for all fellow birdmates.


Lead a flock of birds to safety as the guiding bird. Gather pigeons, seagulls, and migrating birds to escort them to their sanctuary, where they’ll continue their journey south.

But the skies are no longer peaceful. Escape from hungry birds of prey and dangerous technology like the occasional airplane and radio tower signals which will confuse your flock.

Guide your birds home and survive the chaos of the modern world.


Controls

Left-Click - anywhere to move your bird to that location

Shift - for a quick spedboost to dodge dangers and radar signals

1 - Use Ability 1 -> Regular birds sacrifice themselves against predators.

2 - Use Ability 2 -> Seagulls attack using "aerial droppings".

3 - Use Ability 3 -> Pigeons can cloak your formation from radio towers.


Gameplay

For every defeated enemy bird your will get XP and score

XP will increase your max HP, max stamina, stamina regen and HP regen

Fly into other birds to recruit them into your flock

Lead your birds to the sanctuary to score points and progress to the next level

For every bird brought to the sanctuary your will get score according to bird rarity

Use 1, 2, and 3 to activate your bird's special abilities.

But beware of radio towers! Their signals will confuse your flock and have them leave your formation.

Bird rarity

  • 10% pigeon
  • 15% seagulls
  • 75% journeybird

Known Bugs

  • First bird to follow you when your formation is empty gets deleted instead of added to your formation
  • Player animation can get stuck sometimes
  • Spacebar input sometimes doesn't get captured correctly(will probably patch this soon as it affects playability and not gameplay or relevant voting criteria)
  • Spamming abilities can freeze the game
  • Game doesn't stop after level 7 so you can play forever with increasing difficulty(and increasing bugginess as it should stop after 7)

Heyo! I found a few bugs and unclear moments:

I somehow spammed the 1 key while I had the bird, and the game completely froze.
Also, at one point I ended up with 101 HP β€” I guess I accidentally found a cheat? :)
The bird hero sometimes seems to get stuck in its animation.
Or maybe it is just gracefully gliding on its wide wings :D
After dying, Space and some other keys would not work properly β€” instead, the browser search bar kept opening.
It feels like the input is not being captured properly somewhere.

Also, it was not immediately clear why some birds disappear while others start following you.

And one more thing β€” I really liked the music theme. It would be great if it were a bit longer.

Hi @pepebrante the 101 HP thing is expected behaviour XP will affect your max HP, max stamina and HP and stamina regeneration this was a last minute change and is not explained in the description yet or shown in the UI so it's pretty confusing. I will add this to the description.

I will also add a list of known bugs we couldn't fix in time like the birds dissapearing: it's always the first bird that follows you when your formation is empty. Animation getting stuck is also something we couldn't fix in time :/. For the input not getting captured i guess maybe a small patch could be made as it affects playability instead of gameplay etc.

Music was sadly also a last minute thing I also wish we had a bit more time to make it longer :)

The music is great! Wish the bird had more stamina. I like the birds as power up acquisition. More visual clarity of the abilities when used would be helpful! The over all vibe, the title screen, and the flying vibe are really neat!

I tried the game, but was unable to get any of the keybinds other than the left mouse click to work. It seems neat, I didn't leave a rating yet as I felt I couldn't really experience the game.

I had the input challenges too, refreshing the game seemed to fix it. After dying and restarting the input didn't work.

I ran into a strange bug the first time I played, where on level 2, the recharge rate for my stamina got swapped, so my stamina charged really quickly and got used up really slowly. I think that felt more fair :stuck_out_tongue:

Both times I played, I got stuck on level 2 though -- there were no more birds left for me to rescue but I wasn't progressing. Didn't seem like there was anything I could do. I tried twice.

I found the powers a little hard to understand, seemed like I was constantly close to dying so I didn't feel I had much space to try things out.

Also, for the music, I found it the instruments a bit jarring, and the continuous beat is a little too repetitive I think. So my suggestion for next time would be to add maybe some chord progress or something to give the same a bit more structure / rhythm to be less repetitive

On the plus side, the bird graphics are nice! Good job with those!

Had an issue with inputs besides mouse click on death as others mentioned. Reloading the page worked for new lives. Couldn't get past level 2 though, despite rescuing all the birds. Maybe I missed something, but I never got a prompt like in the first level.

Game was a bit difficult and didn't know quite what to do at first. Biggest thing for me was knowing which bird was mine at first. Also making it obvious that the dark bird is the enemy. Cool idea and solid use of the theme, music was cute. I think with a little more player communication it could be taken to the next level!
