RESCUE by Petr Vejchoda
RESCUE
A small avalanche rescue game made for Ludum Dare.
About the game
You play as a rescuer searching for a friends buried under snow after an avalanche. Find them and get them out before they run out of oxygen.
A note on time
We had a fun and interesting concept at first, but it turned out to be too complex and needed more exploration. So on Sunday we had to start completely from zero. Less time, less quality :D
Where to play
Currently there are some issues with WebPlayer on LudumDare, so play it from Itch IO.
Tools
Beacon: Press 1 to activate. It searches for the nearest signal from the buried victim's transmitter.
Probe: Press 2 to deploy. It helps you pinpoint the victim's exact location and depth.
Shovel: Press 3 to dig. Use it to dig your friend out of the snow.

Beat on my second attempt. For anyone else wondering: **Use the numkeys (1-3) to switch equipment**.
I didn't figure out how to use the probe effectively, though. Just digging seemed way more effective :D
This game also need a lot of polishing but it's alright, game mechanics work and do their job (didn't get the idea of Probe, it was faster to just start digging)
I think the probe should have little to no delay and the shovel should get smaller AoE so that it would actually be possible to miss the victims just by shoveling.
We might do a re-release once we find out better values. Thanks for the feedback, though.
And yes - our rescuer is just in a t-shirt 🥶😰. The incident happened when they were skitouring and going up. On the hiking up its better to go just in t-shirt than be sweaty and wet when you reach the top where its windy.
But of course - you should always take your safety as a priority before you go saving others. So yes! Our guy should take some clothes on before the rescue. We will tell him this feedback 🫡.
But overall, it's a good game, keep up the good work!
