Stay Small, Snowball by Zarkith

[raw]
made by Zarkith for LD 40 (UNFINISH)

I was really excited for this LD, I even had a great/simple idea and everything. I dunno if I got sick or what, but I've just been in a perpetual state of tiredness all weekend. Have you ever tried to fall asleep, but failed to even though you're dead tired and not an insomniac? 'cause that's been me since Friday morning.
I haven't been under-eating, I've been pretty well hydrated, I'm not even pushing myself to stay awake for too long. It's a very strange state I'm in that I've never quite been in before, and hope I'll stop being in soon.

I really wanted to finish this entry, but it's been near impossible to focus, so I'm just gonna have to scrap it. (for now)
I might finish a polished Post-Compo version later when I'm feeling normal again. :disappointed_relieved:

So what was this game going to be? Well, simple!
You're a snowball rolling down a mountain. The bigger you are, the harder you are to control, and thus the harder it is to avoid lethal obstacles like lava pools and homing rockets fired from helicopters. Some obstacles, like a cabin chimney or campfire, would melt you slightly, if they were implemented. Others would grow you, like a blizzard or a ski-slope snow machine.
The mountain would also have been procedurally generated, but I threw in the towel right between finishing the tile assets and coding the level controller. (Which should have been the state of the game 24 hours earlier)

For the less than 1% of people interested in seeing what I managed to get done, here's the whole Unity Project:

I do not get money for mentioning it... ;-) But this video helped me a lot to finish my game this time...

LD 39 I had a realy nice and fancy idea... But couldn't finish... This time (LD40) I did it the other way around... Simple gameplay and then the nice and fancy things... Ok - it's just a tetris clone but I broke the curse of not finishing in time ;-)

That's what my plan was, but health and wellbeing comes first.
