Maybe a few too many rocks.  It would also have helped to have an indicator on screen that let me know how my health was doing (seemed sometimes running into a rock killed me and other times it didn't, so I assume there was some health involved).  If it was there, I missed it, so it could have been more obvious. You can see your health on the mower itself: The lower your health, the more it shakes.
