Bear-ly Escape by JGower0502

[raw]
made by JGower0502 for LD 42 (UNFINISH)

Bear-ly Escape is a game about a polar bear trying to escape a constantly shrinking 10x10 grid. Dotted across the grid are random traps and fishes for the player to collect or avoid during the escape. If the polar bear hits the water. Dead. If the polar bear gets trapped. Dead.

NOTE: Due to a lack of time I was able to generate new levels and had to rush certain aspects of the game. I developed the game on mac, so it might not run on PC, so be warned.

Please give feedback, even if it rips the game in half, I then know how to act upon it next time.

NOTE: Due to time limitations I could NOT make any new levels and some features had to be stripped to its core, this is practically the prototype

Nice to see a Mac build, it's tough to find games to play with so many being PC only. Also, awesome to see bears stepping into the spotlight as a protagonist.
The game didn't have too much going on, as I'm sure you know
One issue that I had with your game was that it was tough to make meaningful decisions as so much of the game was random chance as to which tiles would fall. For instance, in one level the tile underneath me disappeared as soon as I spawned. As an example, if the tiles that were about to fall first had some graphic warning the player, the player could scramble to get away from the tile.

@nick-girardo Hi, thanks for the feedback, I didn't even think of adding graphics to the cubes to make it visible when they were going to drop. Sadly due to Jam time being over, I wasn't able to implement the graphics idea, but I'm hoping to develop this game later on in the future with more content, so I'll keep this in mind. - James
