Overview

In this game you play as a soul who has been tempered and strained through the cycle of Hecc. Ready to finally give in and wither away, a sound alerts you - with it comes this short adventure, deeper and deeper until you arrive on the other side.

Note:

Due to Popular Demand from Twitch Chat, the final boss takes the form of a well endowed Anime Antagonist from a popular game based on HECC. A lot of time went into modelling and animating her, thats where a large chunk of the time budget went. (But it was worth it).

Instructions & Controls

You will be give instructions as you play the game. However, a basic overview of controls is as follows; - WASD = Move - LEFT MOUSE BUTTON (LMB) = Accept / Light Attack - RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON (RMB) = Heavy Attack - SPACE BAR (SPACE) = Dodge

Bugs & Etc.

There are no bugs here, trust me. I know this, for I am still and always will be a cat.

Overscope & Plans that didn't make it to fruition

Almost the entire game spec doc. Honest, I had planned for at least 3 encounters with different lord/guardians of Hecc, however - clearly never one to over reach, my time budget was not adequate for the task. Didn't have time left after fixing rookie bugs (lack of sleep) to implement Music or Audio, now its not only the protagonist that is silent, heh. Why did I struggle to manage my time? I blame the tiddy meat (worth it).

Edit 1: Fixed description for Web build of the game, and fixed the thumbnail.
Edit 2: Game name didn't change from "Ludum Dare 48", fixed.
Edit 3: Removed the web version, it appears Unity2020 has a few issues with WebGL builds!
Edit 4: Added WebGL version back again, re-exporting it fixed whatever was going on with Unity, potentially a failed build initially?

Really nice art style, and interesting combat mechanics. Could've done well with some smaller enemies to bonk but this was still fun. I certainly understand what overscoping can do to a jam game lol

@sockpuppetcow A never ending cycle of plans thrown away due to running out of time XD. So much planned, so much scrapped in the last day. One day I'll make a game I scope out! One day... :P.

@excy :( I have just noticed this, it seems that Unity2020 is throwing big tantrums for the WebGL version of this game. I've removed it for the moment, when I get some time in the coming weeks, I'll look into fixing the WebGL version up. This means you didn't get to Lucifer :(.

A fully featured boss fight and the boss model/animations looked great. Obviously ended a little overscoped but the parts you did well on, you excelled at! Great job!

Glowwy ghost bonks manager. More at 11'. In all seriousness, the game looked nice, but played a little clumsy.

I understand I am not the target audience for large breasted anime/video game characters. But you should still consider that your games will be played by those it's not intended for. Knowing you spent your time 3d modeling 'tiddy meat' instead of anything else in the game is frankly gross. And laughing it off is problematic.

Seems like this one just needed some more polish. A little more time to spend and I could see it getting a nice feel to it. It was pretty snooze fest until the end where spamming attack didn't work anymore. I liked the feeling of dashing out of harms way and back in to attack. Maybe I missed something but the light attack seemed pretty useless. Appreciate the entry.

I am a big fan of top down stle games and the controls worked pretty well. Unfortunately there wasn't any sound for me which takes you right out of the game. Also there wasn't much content, only really the one boss fight at the end, which I think the design is taken from Helltaker. There is potential here though.

Fun game! The boss battle was the star of the show. I felt that the lead up was not really necessary (killing those immobile nude ghosts). I probably would have preferred if it just started in the boss fight (or at least get to it much sooner after learning the controls).
That said, the animation was done quite well, and I do appreciate the detailed models, I can tell a lot of work was spent on it. My favorite part was charging up the heavy attack while the boss was in her attack animation, it was really satisfying! Nice work.

This seems like it could be an interesting, but it was a bit dark through out the game I just want upwards by chance and found the way

This was a pretty fun game once you got to the popular well endowed Anime Antagonist. I did spend close to a minute trying to find my way out of the first room due to how dark it was though, and I do wish there had been some way to expand the boss fight into more content. Great start for a game overall, and you definitely got a great clickbait thumbnail out of it lol.

The boss fight was awesome and very engaging. You have all the elements for continuing to develop this game should you wish to.

I struggled a bit on the first few levels to get my bearing as everythng was a little dark. I suspect that with more time and polish this will be really good.

I really dig the aesthetics, a more polished version of this would be cool to play. I think the text boxes shouldn't disappear when you move out of the triggers though, they should wait for a button press or maybe just pause the gameplay until the player closes the text box. The AOE attacks caught me off guard probably due to the lack of audiovisual feedback and I almost died, but my favorite lucky number 7 saved me!

Good job, I'll be interested to see any future iterations of this idea.

Played HTML5 version in Chrome on Windows. Game almost in complete darkness for me. Didn't understand the relevance of the relics or which I should pick, given I was warned I could only pick one per area. Holding right (D) and attacking played the attack animation in the wrong direction. Cool concept though, and I loved the glowing character model. Quirky juxtaposition of a baseball bat/swing on a more ethereal fantasy world. You have something here, alas it seemed something wasn't working for me.

This game was very dark for me. Maybe adding a setting to brighten the game as well as mention perks to picking up each power up

The 3D models are well made. I especially like the final boss's look. Great work with the boss fight's variety in attacks! I played in HTML 5 and I didn't run into any of the lighting issues other people have mentioned. Great work!
