Story

I was once told that the deeper a coin falls in a well, the sooner the wish comes true. Make A Wish is about steering your coin down the shaft of a well to make your wish come true.

Game

  • Avoid the obstacles and the sides of the well
  • The deeper you go the better
  • Make a wish and maybe it will come true

Cool, it’s a bit hard to see the obstacles, but I guess that’s on purpose! The "arc" that indicates the proximity of one is a great idea, even though it took me some time to understand it, especially for the walls. Great graphics!

I really liked the concept and the mood. Great take on the theme. I played it the first time without reading the instructions and missed the part about being able to dodge with space. Would be cool to add this as an instruction in the build itself so that it's self-explanatory. Nice work!

Original concept that fits the theme quite well, pretty simple but pretty fun, a bit dark which makes it hard to see the obstacles but overall it's a pretty good small little game!

Very nice game! I really liked the audio - it was very relaxing. I also liked your pretty original take on the theme: playing a coin is a pretty unique idea. The post-jam improved pretty much everything wrong with the original - my only critisicm is that it starts a bit slow, without any obstacles for the first ~150 meters, but other than that, great entry! My high score in the compo version is 437.

@sheinxy Have you tried the updated version? I have fixed the issue with the bad lighting, i believe.

@frogman Thanks man. Glad you enjoyed it. I think the first 150 m are great as a warm up, a running start. Playing past them does not really take long anyway. But thanks for that suggestion anyway.

Such a dramatic/cinematic vibe! Reminds me of those coin flips in movies that take forever before we get to see the result - if we ever see it. Needless to say a video game version is very welcome!

I really liked the simple one button control scheme. The UI was very helpful too and allows you to have more control than you usually do in these one button games.

Beautiful game with a great atmosphere. Very cool take on the theme and fits well. Good music and audio. Controls could feel a little tighter. Sometimes hitting space does nothing and sometimes it does something, hitting space feels like flipping a coin.

I like the simplicity of the game. It's a new SPIN (get it.. spin :wink:) on the otherwise fairly similar games (ours included).

Really digging the audio (and therefore mood) though.

@healthire There is a 1 sec cool down on the jump and also on the double jump. Sadly i had no time to put in an indicator.

Super interesting game ! The concept is original and unexpected !
I didn't understand how the HP worked at first but it all became clear soon enough thanks to the flawess sound-design with the "twong" and the "ting.

I enjoyed it, thanks ;)

Interesting concept! Atmospheric graphics and music. Hard to play. With experience, game became more catchy!

Some remark: sometimes you loose multiple coins with single hit when coin falls pretty fast and straight, in v1.1 too.

Nice entry! Beautiful music, really sets atmosphere that feels deep and introspective. I also really like the bump-mapping you've got on the walls, and the little glints of light from the coin on the walls.

Interesting minimal controls too, adds an extra element of luck and randomness to the game.

I like the usage of the theme. The mood is great, and graphics work well - save for the HP bar (I too love to create dark vistas and leave most for the viewer's imagination when drawing more complex stuff, but I do it because I suck at drawing)

It's hard to see a coin sometimes because it's pretty dark down there. But the idea is nice.
I imagine this game as a sort of hypercasual mobile game.

Probably cartoony visual style would be better for such simple gameplay. Anyway it's playable and fun, great job!

Pretty fun! It was a bit too dark for me to see the obstables, I thought it was a problem from my monitor but some people said the same thing in the comments so it can be something to think about. But overall I really liked it!

I like the unique mechanic. I think the world should be a little brighter (which ig you fixed in the 1.1 version), but otherwise it's a very fun game - good job. The music is good too.

Nice game, sometimes it's hard to understand when to flip the coin and where it will go... but after few attempts you can control it quite easly. I don't know why but a couple of times i died ad the first touch... I liked the leaderboard too :-) I managet to get the 4th place! The music is a little bit repetitive but overall this game is a nice entry, well done!

Great mood, and the visuals are pretty cool too! It took me a while to understand what the white line was but when I did, it made the game much easier to play, wich is cool! Cool game, good job!
